I heard my mom talking about her having Cyclothymia... What is it?!

Question: I'm kind of worried. I overrheard her talking to my aunt about bipolar disorder and then how she has Cyclothymia. Is it dangerous? How do you deal with it? What is it? I'm worried and confused. I've seen her take pills, but I didn't think twice about it. She's talked to my older sister about it because she has ADHD, but she never mentioned it to me! Help!

Bipolar disorder is a form of mental problems. What you have is too high highs and too low lows. The mood swings can happen at any time and last however long it takes. Your mother is suffering from Cyclothymia which is a mild form of bipolar disorder. It is controlled pretty much by the medicines she takes. She is not crazy. She can live a normal life with Cyclothymia. There is nothing to worry about.

The wiki for cyclothymia covers it pretty well. Basically its a form of bipolar with out the extreme parts. Also the up and down cycles appear much faster than they do on bipolar disorder.

Hope that helps

if you Google it you would be better off of finding out all about it yourself, there is far more 411 on there than here i would think
