Question: is it like a nerve or something????

Answers: is it like a nerve or something????

According to the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, fear is an emotion that brings about a reaction in us that is called "fight or flight." This term refers to the moment when you realize that you are in danger and you can either run for your life or stay and face your fear.

Physiologically our bodies go through a number of reactions that prepare us for battle, or running really fast. The next time you get scared, check your heart rate. In most normal people the heart rate increases to deliver more blood to your lungs and brain. This assists in quicker thinking and better endurance, in case you have to run for a really long time to get away from some dude with a rain slicker and a hook.

Anxiety isn't really funny, but we'll talk about it really quickly. This usually occurs when you feel bad about yourself and then you are forced to talk in front of others or stand in large groups of loud people. Wow. Sucks to have anxiety, but never fear because we have drugs for that now too.

Paranoia is another type of fear. These are the people that could talk for hours about the large conspiracies that are going on in the world and have problems convincing themselves to leave their houses.

Phobias are irrational and not legitimate. You have no reason for your fears.

So after realizing that there are over 8,000 types of phobias I picked the ones that I thought had some relevance to the way things are here at good ol' UMR.

Didaskaleinphobia is the fear of going to school. I have found a new excuse to tell my professor when she asks why I haven't been to class in two weeks.

Engophobia is the fear of work. This fear has legitimate reasons because any time that you get a job off campus here in Rolla you will be dealing with the scariest people you will ever meet.

Hypengyophobia is the fear of responsibility.

Ablutophobia is the fear of bathing, and happens to be very wide spread and unbelievably common among some college students.

Arachibytyrophbia is the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth.

Gynephobia is the fear of women and seems to wreak havoc on most of the dorms and residential halls here on campus.

In conclusion, fear is fun. It's good to be scared occasionally. Just remember, don't let your fears turn you into a closet case that has no friends and is scared of bathing.

It is a natural feeling not only of humans but all creatures.

It the flight or fright process of your body

answers are fairly from oppinion.

we've been influence since we were young by movies, friends, family, etc. Example : why are some people afraid of rats/mouse? Their fairly harmless creatures but from when were young maybe a rat/mouse suddenly pass by you and your brother or family member suddenly scream or hitting it( okay a rat sometimes brings diseases so thats why they hit it). Thus this makes you think that the rat/ mouse is scary or there something wrong with it (to trigger the reaction of the person hitting it). Now for a 4 year old, if you 'hit' a something, they thing that 'something' has done something bad. So with that thinking firmly in place and no one to explain otherwise, he will grow up thinking to hate/fear it.

again this is just an oppinion. DX
