Bipolar.... can't fill prescription...?!

Question: I can't get my presription filled, my insurance now requires mail order only, I was recently diagnosed bipolar and take 50mg everyday so far, can I wait to speak to my pdoc on Tuesday and then for the mail order? I don't have any left, so is this considered an emergency that I should call him on his emergency line or can it wait?
Thanks!

try talking to the pharamacy. sometimes they can give you a few days worth of meds if it's a maintance drug and then call your pdoc tomorrow and explain the situation. most docs don't consider medication refills an emergency and prefer you to call during regular office hours.

glad i could be of help. my little sister is a pharmacy tech at wal-mart that's how i knew they generally will help you out with maintance drugs (as long as their not naroctics) Report It

  • Call your local hospital ER and ask them. You may need to go in and let them give you enough to make it to Wed.

Call the doc, he can give you samples usually until your script gets to you. Not wise to go without.

Call your doctor first thing in the morning. They will probably give you enough to get through until your prescription is filled. You should, in the future, make sure your prescription is refilled at least 5 days before you run out.

yes,i have no trouble waiting as long as you are not suicidal

tell your doctor, and let him know this..maybe the doctor can give some free samples..or change your meds to a kind that is easier to get at your pharmacy's..you should not skip this type of meds..

ask your insurance company what type of meds is covered under the program where you don't have to mail this in, and maybe the doctor can change you up...there is several meds out there for bipolar
