Having a Bipolar mania episode!!! HELP?!

Question: I am having a high and I was just let out of the psychiatric hospital yesterday. I just found out I was bipolar during my stay in the hospital. I've been released with medications but I am having one of my highs and I realize that I am but I don't know how to get thru it. Here I am at 2:28am with a lot of energy, broke from spending all my money and a new hair doo that I did myself ( all of this in one day) HOW do you get thru hypo mania?

I suggest to put all your energy into something productive. I like to write(which is a good way to get everything your feeling out) and maybe paint or draw something to concentrate all your energy on. Also I would call your doctor(assuming they gave you one for outpatient treatment at the hospital) and explain what your feeling and that you want to try and get it under control. He will probably give yous ome stronger meds. I'm not sure if you meant hypo mania or a full manic episode, In any case that you think you are going to do something destructive or that you may be losing control or a grip on reality, do yourself a favor and return to the hosptial.
I hoep this helps, and good luck!

Try exercising.

The best way is to put it into working. Focus it into a job.
Make money with it. I have seen people that do it.

just make it through everyday as best as you can, it's all anybody can do. we are all bipolar to some degree. but since you asked....that is a step in the right direction...it shows that you are cognent of yourself and your problems and still have the ability to make changes for yourself.

just calm down.. be sure to take your medication.. you should go to sleep take your pills..sleep is the only way can help you, i mean a real sleep at least 5 hours..help yourself take your meds!

You need to call the hospital you just left and explain what you are feeling. Tell them you need a plan, and what to know what to do during these times, for now and future episodes.

Close your eyes and breathe in deep and hold it for 20 seconds and then exhale. Do this a few times and then try to go lay down and go to bed.

Then they didn't put you on the right medication! If you were in a hospital..they should have gotten this under control and had your medication adjusted. Ask them about half mg. of risperdal. You might just be having high anxiety if the medication isn't working.(Women are famous for spending money and making hair doos! Maybe you have Insomnia!) the medication you're taking might be making you hyper...side effects that you shouldn't be having on the right medication!

Well, the best thing to do is unplug the computer before you start writing a lot of things you might regret. Part of hypo mania is racing thoughts and thinking that you know the answer to everything, lol.
Since it's late maybe you could get a notebook and pen and just start writing, if you are having thoughts that are tumbling all over the place write them down, you might find out that you are really creative and have some great ideas.
If you want to stay at the computer get a graphics program and start playing around with pictures etc. Just find one thing to focus on so that you don't start wandering all over. Oh, lock your doors and don't decide it would be nice to go out for anything. Try to relax and focus.

I would suggest busying yourself with something. When my anxiety starts to bother me I find it helpful to do something with my hands, such as cleaning, fixing something, playing video games (my favorite), or anything else you can think of. If you don't have a video game system I would suggest getting one. It seems to help. Be strong...it'll pass...it always does.
