Make a list of what you need to do for the trip. Do whatever is on the list one day at a time. That way, you'll lessen the burden & anxiety on yourself.

Just think of how you are going to enjoy yourself during the trip,,,

Have fun, honey!!! Get me one of those "I Love NY" T-shirts,,,

Relax try to enjoy the flight. I like flying, so this is a positive experience to me. Be proud that you are honoring a plan you made--this is progress OUT of depression. Anxiety? well, at least, you aren't closing yourself in. Free yourself to enjoy this. It might be just what you need. Think of positive things when you think of this trip.

why are you going to NY? that sounds exciting! what places will you be going to? what foods will you eat? who will you bump into, maybe someone ffamous?

all i can say is to breath in and out with your eyes shut and think on something that makes you feel good. like a water fall or somewhere that had made you happy. it is a nervous thing to go somewhere that you are not used to. change is hard thing to think on when you have a problem like we do. take it slow and steady. after you get it over with you will see that there was nothing to worry about. have a good trip. ask your doc to give you something like Valium to help you as you board the plane. this might help with your jitters.

My depression comes from sitting alone a worrying about bills or having a pity party, soon I'm talking to God and everything becomes clear. As for anxiety attacks and stress are are a lot alike. My stress attacks come during the night, from my subconscious. I take Ativan for it just before I go to bed.

Go for it and enjoy it.
The more you fly the less scared you are gona be of doing that.
I still get anxiety attacks but now they are only when people get out of plane too slow and i feel trapped/cant leave when i want to. but i am not that scared of flying anymore - you get used to it.

hi, its awful when we suffer from anxiety , and its awful that it effects our whole lives in lots of different areas.its not easy to control but it can be controled in a few steps. try not to dwell too much on the date you are to leave try focus on the good things you will do at your destination..i know well what you mean when you say that you dont keep to made plans.. im great at saying yes to people then after think omg what have i just agreed to then spend days thinking how can i get... its classic of people with anxiety issues..

take each hour one at a time before you leave for the airport. then take one step at a time as you arrive, focous on the end of the journey and the thigs your going to do ,, keep taking deep breathes and think of things that make you smile and things that make you feel happy......i dont know if you have heard of a worry stone its a stone you keep in your hand and you keepplaying with it at times of distress ,,its a good way i have found to cope in times when ive been anxious if you carnt get one then use anything small to keep in your hand that you can keep moveing with your fingers ( try a button ?) if you can get some lavender oil add a drop or two to the stone or what ever you have chosen..to bathe with lavender is also very calming and does work . or burn a little in a burner anytime through the day at home or just before bed anyway good luck have faith in yourself and imagine how good you will feel when youve completed your journey

Take each stage a step at a time. Like planning what you need to take with you first. Pack your clothes and items. Decide what you are going to wear to go in. Getting yourself ready. If you break it down into small steps it might help you to be more in control and hopefully reduce your anxiety.

I know you can do it you are a really brave person and I will be with you every step of the way.

:-)))

Hey this sounds so lame, but I've got bipolar type 2 and sometimes, just sometimes, I need a break from being the lovable headcase I am.

So I organise to have 'holidays' from my myself and forget that I have the burden of living with a serious mental illness. Usually its around the time or periods where I'll be travelling somewhere new and exciting, where no one knows my life is a daily struggle for normalcy. I find it is very refreshing to just be me (minus the illness as much as possible). The stuff that comes with disorder does catch up with me eventually, but just to be without the stresses and self imposed limitations is so freeing.

Perhaps you could sort of try behaving in a different way like I do when I'm on these 'holidays' and surprise yourself when the negative feelings and behaviour you expected doesn't crop up. Heck, I'd love to go to New York...have a fantastic trip and above all, enjoy yourself.
