If you're up to going out, and you are thinking of suicide you constitute an emergency. Any emergency room doctor will likely admit you for observation until they are certain you are not actually going to kill yourself. Most emergency rooms transfer patients (pt's) to psych hospitals so they will be monitored 24/7.
Cognitive Behavioural therapies are practiced by many therapists, but if you're so depressed as to be suicidal, you will probably not be able to carry out the given instructions or directives. No therapy will take away your problems, the best they can do for you is to make the impact of your problems less powerful. After an extended period of being clinically depressed, our brains becomes depleated of some chemicals necessary to reduce depression. Taking an antidepressant medication for a limited period of time can help you to better manage your life, prioritize your problems, and taken to resolve what you can.
You are rather instinctively doing one of the best things you can do, right now. You are talking to others and you are asking for help. If you are up to it, go for a work or workout, do anything to get some exercise, and don't be afraid to cry. A "good" cry rises the Serotonin in your brain, as does exercise.
I hope this helps, but please, if you are thinking of killing yourself go to the nearest emergency hospital and let the professional help you. If you;'re not alive, your problems will never be resolved.

go see a therapist, tell your doctor & try to stay calm, dont let these negative thoughts into your head, ignore them for now. then maybe try CBT again and find the cause of your feeling like this. good luck.

Firstly, don't be too hard on yourself. A lot of people tend to sing the merits of CBT, often though, they forget to mention that this form of treatment is hard and doesn't work for a lot of people. Ironically, you have to be quite "well" to stand a good chance of it working in the first place!

I see that in your previous question you don't seem to be responding to Cipralex. It sounds to me like you're profoundly depressed. My advice would be to go back to your doctor and explain how you're feeling. It may be that a trial of another antidepressant would be helpful, possibly one in a different class to Cipralex.

I do not know what CBT is. I presume some kind of medication.
It is sad you still feel low. You know you can help yourself more than you think. Try to love yourself more. It is hard when you are depressed to even think anything but bad.
You must go back and see your doctor and talk it over with him.
Good luck. I do hope you feel well soon.

maybe you need a different type of talking therapy, or medication or possibly a balance of both.
i know its hard to take on board but things can get better, even if it seems hopeless at the moment. have you thought about possibly humanistic counselling? check it out on internet, it is long term though my friend and takes a brave and courageous decision from you. cbt seems very good at specified issues on a short term basis, it sounds like you have deeper underlying issues that need time and space to be explored, good luck. check out the www.bacp.co.uk also some therapists or students offer low cost counselling this may be an option for you. just choose someone you feel you can work with and someone you feel comfortable with.

im the same i think what went wrong is that CBT focus's on the present and gives techniques to help with the present situation but what i need is an understanding and closure to events in my past that have caused me my problems nows, go back to your gp and see if he can get you a therapist and work on the root cause with you instead of covering up with CBT, good luck

My heart goes out to you , but your not alone it saddens me to read of your despair ... as most of us have been where you are now my dear .. have courage and faith in yourself , as i am sure many of your acquaintances have in you . I have often found that a smile and positive happier thoughts of happier times eases the negative thoughts away .. Do reach out to some one, a friend or a medical person ... life has its ups and downs .. please do not let it all get you down ...think of tomorrow as your new beginning .. the new you .. smile at others passing by ..it will cheer them up and it will cheer you up also .. Take Care .. dream happy dreams // from a Mum and a granny who loves life ..

If you can find a therapist privately (look on the UKCP website) then that is a good thing to do, you can see what they specialise in and find someone who does the therapy most suited to you.

Good luck and I hope you start to feel better soon.
