I can't sleep (I will give best answer!)?!

Question: I once got addicted to sleeping medication and now I can't sleep. I turn off my light at 12p.m. and I'm pretty tired and then I don't go to sleep until 3 or 4 a.m. That would be okay but I have to get up at 7 a.m. and I am exhausted. I know I shouldn't have taken those pills but I hope someone can help me! Thank you so much! I PROMISE to give best answer.

Well, this is what I was told by my MD! 1 work out 3 hours before going to bed.
2 take a shower or bath 30 minutes before bed to help relaxs your self.
no caffine for 6 hours before bed!
No drinking like beer or other 5 hours before bed!
Drink milk before bed!
try pm pain pill or 2!

count sheep..but let the 5th sheep jump but not make it over fence and cut himself open. then have a funeral (in your mind of course). the funeral will be so boring, you'll be asleep within the first 5 minutes.

Firstly going to be at 12 is far to late. You need to go to bed earlier and reset your body clock, this will take a while but your body will eventually get usest to going to bed earlier. Also if you still take 3hrs to fall to sleep at least you will be getting more sleep if you go to bed earlier. Another thing to try is wear yourself out physically during the day with exercise or weights, then you will find sleeping easier as long as you don't exercise to close to when you go to sleep.

Omg I just asked that question :) I cant sleep either. I stay up until 4:00 I need an advice toooo pleazzz

Don't take a PM pill or two. It's got the same ingredient as sleeping pills. And though they say you can't become addicted, you can. It will screw with your sleep cycle. I know where you are at. Been there. I'll be honest with you. It takes awhile to get your sleep back on track without the pills. For me it was 3 months. You really have to ride it out. It takes whatever it takes. But, if you are persistent and do not take the pills you WILL normalize over time. Here are some things I did to get back on track.

1. Shower before bed
2. Read inspirational or lighthearted stuff before bed and if you find you are laying in bed awake read again.
3.If your head spins with thoughts try counting to a hundred and starting over again, or even if it sounds silly sing a song in your head, or repeat a prayer or poem in your head. Sometimes it helps to stop the thinking.
4.Don't obsess about how many hours you have until you need to be awake. Just realize that this will pass and you can get through it.
5.Take on some physical activity late in the day maybe a walk after dinner or some light exercise
6.Don't watch T.V. after nine, it's too easy to get caught up in a show or movie that keeps you up later
7. Don't take phone calls or go on the computer after nine. It's quiet time then.

Good luck. You can do it. It just takes time.

hi
same prob was vd me somtime ago.the only difference is i never took ny pills.
wat u can try out is meditate for somtime b4 goin to bed.keep all ur worries and stress stuff aside and think of somthin good....like if u hav a boyfrnd, think of him & if u don't just think abt the nice things u'll do wen u'll hav one.
another thing u can do is maintain a diary.& at the end of the day b4 goin 2 bed, write everything wat u did during the whole day......or write anything dat coms in ur mind...which u always wanted to share vd somone but cud'nt due to som reason or the other.....just go on writing.in this way u'll also feel refreshed.empty stomachs also don't let u sleep so b sure dat u'v eaten atlist somthing b4 sleeping.
last but not d least...Love URSELF for wat u are
i hope all dis helps u

See insomnia treatments, in section 3, at ezy build, below. Use one of the relaxation methods, in bed, after lights out, on pages 2, 11, 2.c, or 2.i, but they can take some time to learn, (progressive muscular relaxation excepted) so learn and become proficient in their use during the day; an alternative is to use the EFT, in section 53, and pages 2.q, and 2.o, saying to yourself: "Even though I currently have a sleep disorder, I deeply and completely accept myself." (or choose your own wording) while you use the acupressure tapping. Find out which works best for you, in the daylight hours, so you will be prepared, come bedtime. For many people, a good idea is to develop a set "wind down" routine for the last hour before bedtime, so your unconscious mind learns that it is time to put thinking aside, and prepare for mindfulness, (awareness, without cogitation/purposeful thought) or the EFT, in preparation for sleep, but the idea with mindfulness is to not even think about sleeping: just drift off, naturally, during exercising those techniques. http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris ~~~ Seek medical advice: you may have to attend a sleep clinic. I'd try a different medication, for a few days, then switch to an OTC remedy, like Nyquil, or Tylenol PM, for a few more, then switch again, this time to a natural product, like Sleepytime, or c(h)amomile tea, or Valerian root (some people experience grogginess from this, the next day) for a short while, then give them up, as well, and just use the recommended techniques.
