Munchausen syndrome, Psychopath vs. sociopath? please answer!?!

Question: Last time I didn't quite get the answers I needed...please reply!

What's the difference between a psychopath and a sociopath? What are the signs? How are they different (in depth?). Can you be a psychopath and not kill any people? How long does it usually take for a psychopath to be diagnosed? Statistics would be nice.
What's the diagnostic criteria for munchausen syndrome and what's the treatment? How long is treatment?
Thanks, please answer.

Hmm, the terms you use are not in the DSM IV. Psychopath and sociopath are terms derived from the media.
Previous poster: You are talking about munchausen by proxy.

Psychopath is not a mental illness. It is a media term, a Hollywood label, a fictional character's fictional illness. Sociopathic is a mental illness. That is what the movies are usually portraying. Yes, ppl can be sociopaths without killing ppl, but they are heartless and cold and wouldn't care much if they did. No info on your other Qs.

People who are psychopathic target one person and generally stick to that person until they achieve the goal. People who are sociopathic generally target a group of people at large. A more generalized target.<I think>
As for munchausen syndrome, isn't that the condition where a parent, most typically the mother, will deliberately make her own child ill so as to gain attention for herself??
