Flashbacks, therapy didnt help...?!

Question: I have had several traumatic events that i keep getting flashbacks of, almost daily. It is ruining my life. I tried therapy, anti-depressants, nothing works. Still i cannot stop these memories occurring. Mostly it is memories involving people that i am very angry with to this day because of what they did to me. I take Ativan which is like Xanax which does help but the pills are very addictive and when i dont have them everything is worse. I know of techniques that help you cope with the flashbacks but i want to stop them completely. Any advice on how to shut off my brain would be nice.

I know this may sound cheesy but have you tried hypnotherapy or meditation? My sister and I both went through a lot of trauma as well. We were both on antidepressants, etc. The only thing that helps the both of us is waking up every day and meditating for 45 minutes, mostly on forgiving others for what they've done. Like I said, I know it sounds cheesy, but it offers a lot of peace of mind.

Go see a Hypnotherapist to reprogram your mind, ask them to make a cassette or CD of the session, so you can listen to it every night at bedtime....

You will unplug all those bad emotions very quickly.

i definately agree with the person who said go to a hypnotist...its been known to work...try it out
