Is it true that the only people that suffer from depression/anxiety are white??!

Question: well....if that's the case...what the hell is wrong with me?

Answers: well....if that's the case...what the hell is wrong with me?

Oh hell no!

But white people are wimps. Sorry but its true. Whites are far more likely to cry for help then blacks are. Black people often have to try harder for everything and therefore get a stronger spine. So for blacks, they may be depressed, but they are more likely to just deal with it whereas whites would run to the nearest shrink.

I am not saying this is good. I wish more blacks went to psychiatrists. Its a sad sign of racism in America.

BTW, I'm white in case anyone wants to accuse me of being racist, I'm simply making a statement about my own race.

Nice name..it suits you.

cant believe I am reading this in 2008...

That's so untrue! People with different skin colours do not have different minds or chemicals or hormones.

you can't be serious....

Where the hell did you hear that? No disorder is racially based. Is it true that all black people are on welfare? It always has to be a color thing doesn't it?

No, I'm sure that's not true. Anyone can suffer from depression/anxiety!

HAHA! No! Why would anyone think something like that... (an emotion) is limited to ONE race...?
That can happen to anyone... Talk to your Dr.

That's kinda funny...
Makes me think that nonwhites are too daggone busy solving their problems and can't afford the 'luxury' of lingering in a blue funk.
But everybody can become depressed or feel anxious.

no, i know alot of filipino and black people with that kinda stuff. i think the chinese might be immune though.

Depression and anxiety can hit anyone, call your Doctor and speak with them.
Try going for walks to clear your mind, make it part of your daily routine. GL and hope your feeling better soon. =) I'm thinking of you..

No, that is not true. I have suffered with this for over 40 years now and I can tell you that I have waited in waiting rooms with every ethnic group there is. I do think however that the way people of color were raised has a lot to do with not telling anyone which gives the perception that only whites have this problem.

it you are human you can have depression or anxiety, whats wrong with you is maybe you are a little racest

that's completely and utterly untrue. I'm black, and white and i suffer from depression AND anxiety. I also know people of other races who suffer anxiety too. Who ever told you this is a ignorant fool.

Wow if this isn't racist I don't know what is.

What have white people got to be sad about, we've had it easier than you guys.

So, next time think before you ask.

NO! we are hispanic and there are a lot of people in my family that are suffering from depression/anxiety! Depression/anxiety knows no color! It doesn't matter what race you are you can suffer from this, go see a doc. believe me everything will seem better once you know what is wrong and that you are not the only one!

my husband suffers from depression, so does his mother. From what I have heard it my even be hereditary!

No. That's obviously not true.

wow emotional problems have nothing to with your skin color. even animals can get depression.

No, that's not true at all. Depression and anxiety can affect anybody.

PEOPLE NO MATTER WHAT RACE THEY ARE HAVE EMOTIONS AND THEREFOR WE ARE ALL PRONE TO THE SAME EMOTIONAL FEELINGS.IF THINGS GET TO ROUGH DONT BE AFRAIED TO SEE YOUR FAMILY DOCTOR .THEY ARE THERE TO HELP.HOPE EVERYTHING GOES WELL FOR YOU.

Did I just read that question right?

No sweety you are not alone mental disorders come in all colors. Many people I know have said the same thing to me when I tell them my situations but they are wrong. So stop worrying and listening to stupid people. Best of luck.

Maybe it's because black people usually have a stronger and larger support group. They usually help each other out and support each other. Even if they don't have a large family...lots of them treat each other as family. (Just guessing!) Also..seems like they sing a lot...and that does something to a part of your body that helps with depression. I can't think what this is called. It's a hormone or something.

did i just read that right??
