Answers: like a certain time in the year the smell makes you think of or you feel like you knew something was going to happen

Actually, smell is the one sense that is tied closest to memory. Sure we as humans have the uncanny ability to recognize faces, places, movies we have seen before (but cant remember the name of as we catch them in the middle) and repeated events. Smell, however, is so closely tied into memory we can tell that something isnt right just by the way it smells.

Your nose can catch something on the air and suddenly you are five years old again standing in your grandma's kitchen as she makes a batch of those cookies you couldnt get enough of.....

yes, odors are known to do that

yes odors are known to do that

Odors can bring back strong memories from the past. Often one of the triggering factors for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD - is a smell from the original trauma.

The area in the brain that deals with smells (olfactory center) is processed next door to the memory encoding area (hippocampus). The neurons fire at the same place and the same time, so they are very strongly linked for really long periods of time.

It has that ability on me

Yes it does. Often triggers PTSD flashbacks for me
