Answers: I get both but I am wondering my doctor says I very much suffer from Panic attacks but whats the difference?

I suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder . . . Anxiety Attacks are where small things build up over time . . . my doc explained it like if your mind is a desk, every night most people, while they are asleep, file away everything on their desk (things that happened that day). . . well an Anxiety Attack comes when my brain doesn't file those things away when I sleep. I was young, so that is how the doc explained it.

Panic Attacks are where you know what triggers it, like you have a panic attack before you give a speech because of a major fear of public speaking . . .

Anxiety attacks are where things just keep building up and your body begins to be anxious about things without realizing it. My anxiety attacks feel like heart attacks (or how I would assume they would feel). I have been rushed to the hospital so many times before the doctors realized what was happening. Everything doesn't cause them, there are certain stressful situation that builds on top of each other.

It is easier to explain a panic attack than an anxiety attack.

panic attacks come out of nowhere when you have them. anxiety you have a clue, or might understand what triggers it.

I believe that a panic attack happens when you are just in a situation that makes you begin to hyperventilate. ( like if you are claustrophobic and you are put in a small space you can have one). A anxiety attack can be caused by stress (which is the most caused) You have to build up and up on stress and then it will finally happen. I have had one twice. it is not fun...

Make you you relax and do some yoga or get a massage before you get to stressed out.

Anxiety slips in... panic hits you on the head like a cargo of bricks...
Sorry... judging from the ones I witnessed that's what i gathered...

Just wanted to say thanks for asking this question, cos I've been wondering the same thing recently.
I have panic disorder, (and depression and agoraphobia) but my care team talk a lot about me having anxiety, so i presumed they were the same thing.
Thanks also for the answers here which explain it.
