Why do psychiatrists always prescribe a magic pill?!

Question: do they own drug stock....is it convenient....or do they like keeping patients under their thumb when all we need is some good weed http://www.marijuanalibrary.org/brain1.h...

Psychiatrists, like most physicians, are financially rewarded for getting as many patients as possible in and then out of their office. Years ago they used to actually do psychotherapy but now they are just drug dealers. Why sit and talk to someone when you can whip out a prescription pad and send them on their way? Not to mention the very lucrative rewards they receive from the drug companies to prescribe their products. It's a good racket.

That's a good question.

And it doesn't seem to produce any effects.

A good psychiatrist wouldn't prescribe pills! They do it because real treatments aren't covered by insurance, and they want to get paid.

One a psychiatrist does not automatically prescribe medications. You're perpetrating a stereotype, and marijuana cause more problems than it 's worth, I would never have respect for someone who advocated using something so dangerous any more than I would for someone who didn't use medications as a last resort. The side effects of marijuana are just as devastating as those of "legal drugs" with out any of the tests to prove that it works.
But since that's what you're advocating you won't really give what I have to say any credence becasue it doesn't agree with your beilfs. Que sera sera!

First of all they know its not a magic pill. Meds help a lot of people. Phychiatrists know that you will have to also work on the problems that you are having. They are just trying to help other people thats all.

Psychiatrists have a medical degree on top of the psychiatry degree and are trained to dish out medications for chemical imbalances rather than verbal therapy. They are the doctors you go to to get medication treatment rather than counselling and cognitive therapy treatment. If you want a talkie doctor you see a PSYCHOLOGIST. It's a small spelling differentiation but it makes a big difference as to what you expect when you go to your appointment.

Psychiatrists are doctors. I guess that a lot of them learn in medical school is prescribing drugs or sending the patient to a specialist.
I've been to 2 psychiatrists. The first one overmedicated me. The second one worked with me to get me off the drugs. It worked for a while but I had to restart them.

Some psychiatric disorders don't get better with talk therapy. Medication is the only thing that works.

Such as: Bipolar disorder, major depression, schizophrenia.

Marijuana makes you too dopey to drive. For someone on disability, that won't matter, but otherwise, it is like driving drunk. I'm not anti pot, either.

You are really overgeneralizing here!
