i know what you're talking about but you also have to realise that it's just one of MANY trends. Like right now there's the emo trend and the prep trend and everything. I think it will be a trend, but not a major one. It will probably attract attention seaker types

Yes ive noticed it also
if youor not drunk high crazy depressed crying all the time then your not a teen.
(:

telling people they have some disorder of some sort makes them seem more ~*~*Speshul*~*~ or ~*Uneeke*~.

lol people actually wanna be depressed?
haha..... i think that just sucks
cant they be happy with a normal life?

well from my point of view, all teens grow up crazy is not that they want to, but its just a burning sensation that crosses thru every teen but sooner all later they get burned out, and just like me, i look back at my teeneage yrs and i tell my self " wow i was krazy back then, but look at me now, all grown". Bout depression its very weird because teens dont have much to worry about, they leave all the economic pressure and all the problems to the grown ups, so i think its kool to be krazy but un-kool to be depressed to look kool..

i have noticed that, but i don't think most people do it on purpose.
but i guess this is all because teens are intrested in "emo" or "scene"

Well its not all that new, guess you just didn't notce before.

I have a daughter who just turned 15 and has spent a year and a half in treatment. Mental illness has been occuring with increasing frequency in teens over the last 15 years. Depression is very common and affects as many as 1 in 8 people in their teen years. Eating disorders most often begin in the teen years.

About ten years ago many major cities began developing "alternative education" schoolsfor those kids that were mental enough to be too much of a distraction and detriment in the mainstream schools and not mental enough for inpatient treatment.

Hopefully with the new young celebs cracking up in front of the cameras, it will draw enough attention to the problem of the young and the mental to gain increased funding for support programs for those like my daughter that do not have the benfit of Brit's millions to pay for their treatment.
