Please explain this?!

Question: Why have humans evolved to be dysfunctional? So many people are taking anti-depressents, anti-anxiety medication, and everything else. Is it possible that we're not really messed up? What's causing this universal problem? Why would humans be naturally messed up, to the point that medication is needed to make us "right"?

Answers: Why have humans evolved to be dysfunctional? So many people are taking anti-depressents, anti-anxiety medication, and everything else. Is it possible that we're not really messed up? What's causing this universal problem? Why would humans be naturally messed up, to the point that medication is needed to make us "right"?

Well, there are hundreds and thousands of reasons:

We don't have the family life anymore where we spend time together, playing together and support each other.

As citicens in the society, we have been reduced to producers and consumers. We work hard and identify our selves with our work. We consume the money we earn on mostly meaningless things.
We enjoy our selves in artificial ways by drinking, working out, traveling, watching tv, chatting on the intenet etc.
We have strong belief in and respect for "experts" who tell us how to do or be this or that. We have lost our connection to our emotions and capacity to coupe with our lives without a map drawn by someone else than us. We have become insecure about our lives and the commersials is constantly shouting out messages that we are wrong! We ought to be smarter, thinner, taller, happier, faster, calmer, more harmonic than we are.
An unhappy person is the ultimate victim for the business - an unhappy and lonely person consumes anything to get rid of unhappiness and loneliness.
We are messed up because we're not living on our own conditions. We feel that much of what we're doing is beyond our control.
It's easier to eat anti-depressant, go on working until you see double than stopping this crazy raze and sit down and start taking control over your life, clean it from unnessecary stuff and get rid of energy thiefs.
We have lost the belief in our inner strength, dignity and self healing. We don't believe that there's time for it - we have to work and be right! So we hurry and chase time which we believe will end if we don't catch up.

The family unit is dissolving. No one places family and faith before all else. The age of the individual is here and unfortunately that can lead to solitude, depression and fear. No one talks to their parents anymore and fewer children are following a religious path. Americans also look for t he easiest way to solve their problems and medications are the easiest way.

because we live in a quick fix society. we are not willing to work at anything, strive for anything. we expect to be handed everthing on a plate.

look at the older generation. they have worked all their lives, never complained. just got on with it. they never took anti depressants!!!! If they felt low, they forgot it and just carried on.

we are a bunch of namby pambies now. we expect everything and give nothing in return.

I thin it could be awareness more then the sudden increase of dysfunctional people. Back in the old days problems were not discussed . Now, problems are , and it might seem like there is an increase, when it is only because it is out on the table more.
There are many examples of this. Child abuse, homosexuality, autism, drugs, etc.
People are more educated now, and can deal with it now.
Not like the old en days, where people were in denial.
medication is not a sign of weakness . When there are chemicals in the brain that are misfiring, then medication can help stabilize a individual .
Medication does not make people right either. That is not the full answer. People have to work on feeling better too, along with medication when necessary.
it has always been a problem in people, this is nothing new.

humans are not pefect, wc're like a car that can crash, our body is dellicate and disturbes can occur so we need meds to fix us, juts like machines and perffection dont exsits i dont know if you understod me sorry for my bad spilling its not my fault :(

This question is absurd (no offense).

It would be ridiculous to ask this about physical illnesses: why have evolved to be physically 'dysfunctional'? People have illnesses, so they must be 'messed up'. I don't think anyone would even think to ask that question: illnesses are what happens when our fallible bodies get something wrong.

Depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses have their basis in genetics and brain illness. Yes, they can be triggered by stressful events, but they are at heart physical illnesses. That's why your question is absurd. Psychiatric medication doesn't make us "right", it makes us able to function, something which we wouldn't be able to do if our illnesses went untreated.
