Question: just curious about what goes on. someone I know has children who are going to get tested. The kid's dad is an alcoholic and had behavioral issues as a young kid.

I agree with the discipline theory. So many parents are looking for a clear cut answer as to why their children misbehave, so they take them to a Doctor so they can be 'labeled' with some type of disorder and be medicated. They're really looking for an excuse to justify their childs behavior. They need to be disciplined , and it starts at home.
