Crying uncle on Effexor after 4 days?!
Question: Hi. After lot of research I decided to try Effexor at the suggestion of my doctor. My depression is minor and not suicidal or anything.
I am in the evening of day 4 at 37.5 and had a terrible day of strange, scary thoughts and a kind of despair I've never felt. I've also had a headache and stomach problems since I started.
I know that you need to be patients with these medicines as I am already on Wellbutrin, prescribed by the same doctor. A larger dose of that made me too nervous, so that's not an option.
My reason to want to give up so soon is to avoid the horrible withdrawals I hear about.
Has anybody else given up on this medicine so quickly?
I plan to talk with my doctor tomorrow, just want to hear opinions.

Yes. I gave up on two different medication quickly after talking with my doctor due to horrible side effects. You probably cannot take effexor he can give you something else.
I took prozac with wellbutrin and that was fine. Be sure and let you doctor know your symptoms and you can be weaned off.
My wife was on effexor 225mg per day with wellbutrin 300mg and it made her feel worse she switched to something else totally abilify. which worked better for her.
ive been on effexor xr and wellbutrin over a year now i plan on staying on it.it does me a world of good.maby the problem is you might need to get the dose ajusted.it took me a couple of months to fined the right dosage.it is possible that you might be having a side affect to the drug.you said it your self talk to your doctor .
