Can I get a restraining order on him if so how do I do that and what does it really do keep him away from me I hope so? He is a weirdo to when he got into a fight with my sisters boyfriend he pulled a knife on them. If he doesn't leave me alone I don't know what to do? please help?:)

get a restraining order, but....
by resisting, this leads to perpetuation of what is resisted.... this is more true as our inner condition, that people typically respond to
I would recommend accepting what has been so far, and you can do whatever you want, but....

"Doing something won't compare with someone's restraint"
by which I don't mean a restraining order.... I mean not acting when not necessary

well first of all, who is he? your boyfriend? why didn't your sister's boyfriend call the cops when he pulled a knife on her? he should of, obviously he is VERY dangerous. IF he is your boyfriend and lives with you...when he leaves to go somewhere, go out and buy new locks for your doors and call the cops. that's your best bet, he is very abusive (verbally) to you, and you need to call the cops ASAP before he gets any more violent. first...call the cops...second go get new locks.
Holy god. Ok, please go to the cops. They can instate a restraining order. If he comes within a certain boundary of you, he will be arrested immediately if you call the cops on him. If it gets worse then that, get him incarcerated. State laws are different but the cops will know, just get there fast.

i just answered your other response. Do not speak with him @ all he calls don't speak he comes to the door don't allow him in YOU tell him to move on he is no longer welcomed in you or your families presence. keep plenty of distance between you & him.
If you are having this much of an issue with a person you need to pursue legal action, unless you are simply posing these questions for attention. In that case you need to see a therapist to discuss some of your issues.
You have to go to the courts and file a restraining order. You might need Legal Aide. also.
