Phobia curiosity?!

Question: so i have quite a lot of phobias and a high level of paranoia, among other issues. and i was just curious to see others' opinions.

i've always been more afraid of spiders than anything else. sometimes just seeing a spider will send me into a minor panic attack. but i've come to realise that i'm actually more afraid of being diagnosed with schizophrenia than i am of spiders. i show no symptoms that i can tell and have no family history or anything, but i am honestly terrified. i think that if a doctor told me i had schizophrenia, i'd react worse than i would if he'd told me i had AIDS.

i was just wondering if that came across as strange to anyone else.

This is interesting because when I was younger I was TERRIFIED of schizophrenia. I always thought I had it. It got to the point where I would start to show symptoms as a response to my fear. My mom is a mental health nurse, so thats where it came from, because I always heard about schizophrenia from her growing up. I ended up discovering that I have an anxiety disorder. I got treatment, and I'm doing soooo much better. You should talk to your doctor, because you might have the same/a similar problem! Around the time I had that fear, I was also very afraid of spiders, and to the same degree. I would scream and cry and it would actually haunt me. Now I'm afraid of cotton balls. not even kidding. cotton balls.

No, it's not strange. Face the fear head-on, and find out, and then follow the doctor's suggestions.

Yes it does come accross as a little strange. I'd be interested to find out where it all stems from. Is it just schizophrenia or is it any mental condition you are terrified of being diagnosed with? maybe it translates in your head that if you find out you are schiz, it means you are actually in control of your own mind? Or maybe its an inferiority thing?

Interesting non-the-less

just remember that a spider is apart of nature
some people think it's ok to step on spiders
if you think it's immoral to disrespect a dog, don't do it to a spider
I think you should go to a doctor
Not everyone on Y!A has a GED or whatever

OK well it does seam a little weird to me. But if you have no signs and no family history don't worry about it. I have learned that there is no reason to stress what ever is going to happen will. every one has phobias I'm afraid of Bananas. Yes, don't ask. But, as far as your fear of being schizophrenic don't stress. Stress never gives me anything but a headache.Enjoy life and take it one day at a time. I don't know if you believe in God but I do and when I don't think I can handle any more I give it back to God and say " Do what you want but I can' t any more" and some strange way I get the courage to go one day more and everything always seams to work out. So my advice and take it or leave it is DON'T STRESS. Let life Happen it's a lot more enjoyable that way.
