I am similar. I am also on antidepressants and am in school. The only advice I can give you is to make yourself wake up after getting 8 hours of sleep (trust me, I know its hard), but once you start doing it, you will actually find you are more energized during the day. Not only that, but it will make it easier to go to bed at a decent time, and your whole sleep schedule will change. From personal experience, I have found that once the 8 hours of sleep has passed, I can sleep much longer than most people do. Your body works best on 8 hrs of sleep, and any more will actually make you more drowsy during the day

Ive been doing the same thing. I think some people (Like us!) Are just "night-owls".
I have tried sleeping pills and other things and I still want to stay up late and when I do fall asleep its for about 12 hours also.
Dont feel bad, not everyone is made the same and some people just need a few extra hours of sleeping. You will be fine!

Hope this helps, and just try to find relaxing things to do to get yourself in a pattern that will help you fall asleep earlier.

We are "night owls!!" I am not a pill taking person and pills eventually would mess with my sleep. I love my sleep. I stay awake and am more active in the evenings and nights. I am not built for the morning hour. That's okay though. I used to feel bad about it but I don't anymore. We need night people for this world to function. I am going to nursing school and I am almost done (I dread the morning hours). I am going to be a night nurse. We need nurses at night too.
My point is some people's "internal clock" is different. Don't fight it, you should embrace it!
Good luck, night owl (wink)!

ok maybe ur body clock needs adjusting, it doesnt no when to sleep. u may be suffering from anxiety, or stress have a talk with a counseller to get all ur feelings out. Make sure u visit ur doctor. Good luck!!!!

I was like that for many years, and i even slept up to around 16 hours when i was given anti-depressants. This went on (from when i was about 14) for many years.

I started seeing a psychiatrist a couple of years ago, and was diagnosed bipolar (whilst i haven't yet found a medication to assist with my moods). My sleeping has been better since anti-depressants have been off the menu.

Not all people with bipolar show symptoms of excessive confidence etc, in fact most bipolar folk have predominately major depressive symptoms. Check out M.D. Jim Phelps' website: http://www.psycheducation.org/
His book ("Why Am I Still Depressed?" has much more information however, and is an easy read.

It is always best to be well informed, and draw your own conclusions - rather than merely relying on a doctor (as i did on my G.P. for years, rather than seek specialist help). :)

I hope that helps! :)
