I need help with anger management...?!


Question: I don't want to take classes. I just need some advice. I have terrible anger issues. I fly off the handle and say things and do things later I regret. What are some tips or things you do to stay calm?

Well, first step is when you feel your anger buliding up you need to take a deep breath and calm down even if that means taking a walk for 30 mins or sitting behind a locked door alone either way you need to get time to calm down and think away from whoever or what your angry at so you dont shoot off the mouth. When you feel calmed down you can come back to the situation and explain how you feel angry and so on and try to solve it.

1. Walk away and give yourself a time out when you notice your starting to feel angry.
2. Get to counseling to find out what the underlining issues are - you are either very hurt about things or very scared, working with the core issues will help the anger.
3. Find good physical activities to help get the anger energy out and from accumulating.

do unto others as you would want them to do unto you....when u start to get mad step back and take a look at the sitution and think if u were in their shoes, how would u want sum1 to treat u or what would u expect them to say??

well i have to say i have a bad temper myself, i know exactly what its like to fly off the handle, but you just need to start thinking before you act. also i know this sounds corny but if you smile when you are angry it tricks your mind and you start to calm down, or even deep breaths then lick your lips and breathe out slowly....hope that helps!

i dont think their are always basic answers to problems, but maybe your just stressed about something?
Sit down, make a list of things that you find irritating, have a look and then find ways to overcome these (usualy) little things.
Aswell as this, perhaps you could try going to the gym? its a fact that it releases good hormones, and from experience, i alllwways feel better after the gym!

The first thing you need to do is see a medical doctor. You should be evaluated for either hormonal or neurological disorder. You may blame the situation for your anger, but it's entirely possible that there's something else behind it. If you don't, then think about the groups again. Who better to help you deal with the problem than people who have it, too?

In some situations, such as work, or school, it might be better to cover your mouth with a cupped hand, bandanna/handkerchief, or use the crook of your elbow, to muffle the sound. Some people find that it helps to journal those thoughts, and emotions soon afterwards. Anger, which is repressed, rather than healthily expressed, tends to fester, and later may cause explosive fits of rage, or depression. It helps to have someone you can talk to.
