How can someone get a background check on a psychology therapist?!

Question: Is it annonymous or does the psychologist get notice that a particular person is requesting info on them? This is to find out if they have ever had any complaints filed against them.

I'm not too familiar with procedure but if you poke around on the APA website (or amy other licensing board) you might be able to find out who to talk to regarding a greivance against a therapist. You may have to call a representative to go further.

they get no special treatment . Same as you or I we don't know who or when a background check is made.

I'm sure there is something for the medical professions just like there is for the law profession. Lawyers have to answer to the bar association... I'm not sure what doctors answer to, but there has to be someone... wherever they get licensed.... Good idea to check! I had a shrink once that told me as much of his life as I told him of mine. I had a better idea of what meds I was on than he did. Not long after I quit seeing him, he commited suicide. I wasted a lot of time there. the guy was pitiful. I'm sure he meant well but he did not need to be doing that job!

well any job you apply for you get a background check on. if you still aren't sure about that person, definitely get a background check.
