How would one go about overcoming shyness?!

Question: I would use the "the-hell-with-it" strategy.
Like, if you want to go and talk to somebody, think of the worst thing that can happen... don't know... like the person spits on your face, or you get out of breath, or make a clown of yourself... whatever. Then say "the hell with it" and go right ahead and talk to that somebody.

Making a laugh out of your blunders would help too. lol

~get for yourself: your own personal mirror~

use it!

enjoy it!

(channel the dynamic energy of shyness into something magnificent!)

BE CONFIDENT! AND MAKE SOME GOOD FRIENDS THAT WILL ENCOURAGE AND SUPPORT YOU!!

You must practice interacting with people then it will become more natural.

ok i so know what you should do! Okay have you ever watched the show Made on MTV. Now you... want them to make you into like a singer or something. Or even just more outgoing. They would definately make you less shy lol they went to a girls school who wanted to be a singer or something, and the first 5 minutes they were there they made her sing star spangled banner in front of the whole school.

take a course in public speaking. this will make you the center of attention as the speaker, make you project your voice so that people can hear you. get involved with politics. people can get very emotional about politics and then they become noticed publicly, the they get to notice you in a personal way. get involved where you have to interact with others. join a theater group. volunteer somewhere.

making the best student the validictorian may result in a squeaky timid voice at the microphone. better to give the honor to the second or even third best student, that has confidence and a voice that people can hear.

when waiting for a bus, say hello to the others waiting with you. it will only be a short conversation until the bus comes who knows, you might meet your new best friend.

get brave and open up. get away from the computer. get up. step away. now reach way over there and turn it off.

if you are still reading this, you weren't paying attention.

I've always been shy. Still not over it. Just keep practicing and know that you are shy. Sometimes it works out for the best.

you need

1-good friends
2-the ablity to not care what others think about you (too much-you know, don't forget manners.etc)
3-the ability to BELEIVE IN YOURSELF
thats it

Not a joke in all honesty: Alcohol and lots of it.

boost your self-esteem. how? by being people-oriented..or i mean, sociable. in this way, being around people all the time would make you feel comfortable, thus, for example, when you have to perform on stage, you wouldn't get nervous nor shy because you get yourself used to talking and having people around you
