Cutting.,.,?!

Question: Ok this might sound weird but I cut myself and still cannot find the reason for doing it. I have thought that I just like the scars and watching the blood flow but I'm not sure if that's a real reason. I've read a lot of articles about why people cut and they mostly do it because their depressed which I'm not...I don't think. Can anyone tell me why I might do this to myself?

well, i used to cut myself also.

for about, five years i did.

if i got upset i had to cut, i had the urge to until i did. then afterward i felt immediate relief.

if your doing this, theirs some underlying issue u have their not addressing or seeing.

i would love to talk to you about this further. i've had this issue my whole life, and have recently relapsed into cutting a few days ago.

please be careful.

feel free to e-mail me.

i think it because you like the pain and seeing yourself get hurt..

go to a therapist, u need help BIG TIME.!

i used to do this,
and basically it becomes addictive,
it kind of feels like something is missing if you dont.

if you want to stop go for the three day rule.

go three days with out doing it, and after the three days it will be easy to stop. the three days will suck though.

Only you can figure out your reasoning to this strange behavior. I highly suggest you find a new way to entertain yourself...

You might do it to FEEL SOMETHING - even pain. You also might be depressed or sad.
But whatever the reason, this is an addictive behavior like an eating disorder.
Please talk to your parents and your doctor about getting help.

Self Mutilation is a very interesting thing. Bad obviously but interesting nontheless. The main reasons in my mind are

1. Depression with one's life or romantics etc.

2. A fascination with the actual cutting as you've said you might havew that is a possibilty.

3. Some peopel just 'try it' and then it's a bit like doing a drug... you start and you can't stop..it usually ends with rehab.

I use to cut but I stopped because I have a realization about hwat I was doing...it's really all about wher your mind is. I was depressed though and you don't seem depressed. You're just..trying it out? and now you can't stop? Maybe you shouyld consut a pscyhologist or a doctor. Or perhaps a school counsiler? or jsut muster your might..and stop.

I wish you good luck. :)

r u emo?

If you're not depressed, you might just be bored with life and feel that cutting yourself is the only way to experience a different feeling. (have you ever heard that song... "Pain" by Three Days Grace? ...because those lyrics might hold the answers)

To feel yourself. To make sure you are still alive. While inside you feel numb. You dont feel pain, it pleasures you?

cuz yer a dork... maybe cuz its kinda addicting and when ya first started doin it you were havin a bad day and know u just are used to it

Sometimes people cut because it's the only viable source of control they have in their own life. Some people cut to be reminded that they are in fact, here and alive. Some people cut because they enjoy the pain. Some people cut out of compulsion. Some people are relaxed by it.
I cut myself for about 10 years, and no matter how badly my family and boyfriend tried to keep tabs on me or wanted me to stop, I never could. I just gradually stopped doing it on my own accord. Now I work with young and old people alike that self injure. It's a pretty powerful thing, and it's not really weird. SI has become a much more talked-about topic in the last 5 years or so. Just take care of yourself. If you feel as though you really can't (or don't want to) stop, at least be safe and clean and take care of your wounds. I have found a lot of people that SI gradually stop by their early twenties.
You're really the only person that can answer your question, you know that, right? There are countless reasons why you might be into SI, but you're the only person who can take control, figure out why, and do something about it, if you feel you want to at this point, of course.

My friend has been doing this since the age of 12, she is now 23. She has never been out for help and she cant stop either. You need to talk to a school counscleor or someone who you trust. You do this maybe because its the only way you can show your emotions. You may be depressed and not even see it as that way, or have low self image.
Some people do it because they are bored, as bad as that sounds.

Think about how you feel while you cut.
Then after the blood is dry, think of how you feel afterwards.
Do you feel relaxed? Or do you feel nervous? What about feeling nothing at all? Some do it just because of that. They feel nothing at all and the cuts help them feel something. While others say they dont the cuts at all because they are in emotional pain. BUT since you say you ar enot depressed I think it might be your own way to show some other deep issue

idk about you, but i do that wen i'm bored or something bad has happened or something.

cutting is more than a habbit, its an addiction.

and if you still feel like you have control over it, STOP!

do eveything you can to stop.

because i can speak from experience.
im telling you that if you continue it can get so bad it feels impossilbe to stop.

im sorry that you are doing this.
people have many different reasons for doing this and its not always because they are depressed or feel numb.

im not saying these are your reasons but im just telling you some reasons and you can see if any fit you

1. it can be because they feel like they need something they can control and cutting gives them a feeling of control over their life.

2. feeling like you need to punish yourself for something ( not a very common reason)

3. to see blood makes you feel like all your problems are coming out with the blood.

4. to have scars to prove to yourself that you have overcome your problems. many people describe these as battle scars

5. because physical pain is easier to deal with than emotional pain

6. to feel alive

7. some people feel good caring for their wounds. they want to feel nurtured and in caring for your wounds you feel like your being good to yourself.

i hope this has helped you in some way

When I started cutting myself, I thought I just liked the pain, the blood, the scars... And I did like it, but there was another hidden reason for doing it I found after so much time. I think there's always a "deeper" reason but it's difficult to find out, sometimes you find it out once you've quit. Telling you my experience may clear some things up, I hope.
I didn't know who I am, I was lost, and cutting was the only thing I knew. I knew I liked it, it was only mine, you know what I mean? Without realising, you get too used to it. You think you'll be able to control it but it ALWAYS gets worse. When I tried to stop I felt so empty... I just couldn't. It took me years to get over it, and I still have urges I have to cope with.
My advise is: stop cutting as long as you still can. It'll be much more difficult later.
I understand you may like cutting, the blood and the physical pain, but you won't like psychological pain, trust me, you won't like to be dependent. Cutting seem pleasant at first, but it turns your life upside down. It'll cause you problems with your family/friends when they find it out.
Get help from anyone you trust and stop it as soon as posible. You can also contact me if you want to talk, really.
