Do i need to see a psycologist?!

Question: I don't know....i've just been so sad and its been like this for 3 years. I've tried everything to get myself happy but there just no hope to getting it...i was just wondering like if you think i should talk to anyone. I've never thought of suicide, but this sadness just effects my life greatly, i never talk to anyone, and i'm just afraid to show my face or be out in front of others....i just wanted someone eles opinion before i took some action to this. Thank you very much for the help

Sometimes we just can't 'snap ourselves out of it' and need to seek professional help whether with counseling, medication or both. I was totally blown away by how physically debilitating depression can be. After spending almost a year in bed (literally) and gaining 100 pounds I finally sought treatment. I'm out of bed and putting one foot in front of the other, but, most importantly, I have a glimmer of hope today. This is what keeps me going. Good luck to you.

It could only help, right? So why not?

If you are so sad that no one, not even family or close friends can cheer you up then yeah, I would see a psycologist.

no u need to get laid

yes go now

I think you should. What do you have to lose? they worst that could happen is you feel the same you do now. So why not try? you have been down a long time, and you don't have to be, you just gotta find the right answer to feeling better. Give it a try.

You got SAD. Seasonal affective disorder. Wait till its nice out again and see if your still f***ed in the head.

Personally I think you should see a psychologist. If you are unsure, talk to your regular family doctor about it and they can tell you whether they think you need to see a psychologist or perhaps a psychiatrist. Psychologists cannot prescribe meds. Only an M.D. can, which would be your regular family doctor or a Psychiatrist.

Yes, I would suggest go to talk to one. As others said, it can't hurt!

it sounds like you may have some depression. Going to a psychologist would definitely help. You may only need counseling, or you may need meds. Some depression is a chemical imbalance, some is not. I say try it... you never know how much it might help. Besides, what have you got to lose? Just the cost of the appointment. What have you got to gain? Feeling better!

Dunno, in the same boat we are. Good luck.

Almost everyone could benefit from counseling at some point in there lives. It is amazing that people hesitate to get help for psychological issues and depression, they wouldn't think of ignoring a physical pain that affected their lives for years. I think you should quit worrying about other people's opinions and do what you know you need to do. Seek help, it may be as simple as taking an anti-depressant to get you back on track.

go for it
