How do I raise self esteem?!

Question: I've had problems with self esteem since I have been in high school. I've tried to help myself by hanging out with people who make me feel like I can be myself. i will try to hide it in front of others but i always seem to go back to the negative thoughts of "I'm ugly." or "No one likes me." Can anyone help?

Peers can be cruel, but make no mistake about it, you are a great person and anyone should consider themselves lucky to have you as such.
Do not sell yourself short nor cheaply.
If you can accept the fact that you are worthy of anyone's friendship, then you shall gradually find bits of pride. Proud of who you are and proud of the principles withwhich you embrace.
Relax, keep a level head, and realize that Rome was not built in a day. It takes time to find mature friends and be prepared to wait for the better ones.

Join some groups or clubs outside your school area and try and assimilate with them better.
Take on tasks whereby you're forced to be with others more often. Like say go to a nursing home and perhaps do some reading for some people with bad eye sight.
This will help you to mature and be more self confident.

Every day make a list of 10 things that are great about you. Every time you think about it, recite the list in your head. Think about all of the people that do bad things in the world. Tru TV has shows about them all the time on their channel. You don't do things like that, do you? Then you are a good person. You are a positive member of society that has a lot to offer the world and a lot to give to people and your community. Get the list up to 20. Keep adding things, even simple things. Here's an example: What's great about me? I love animals, I can cook. I am generous. I dress nice. I am friendly. I have a nice smile. etc. Now your turn. Try it every day for two weeks. See what happens.

You have got to feel good about yourself first. Then the rest will be old news. If you think your ugly then go get your hair done If you think you don't look good in your clothes then go buy some new ones. YOU ARE YOUR WORSE ENEMY. Go out there you are prettyist one out there and I'V seen some real dogs. The only negative problems you want to have is in math.

Self esteem has alot to do with what you do, and not so much to do with what others think about you. Try to take the focus off hanging out with people who "make you feel..."
and put the focus on what you can actively do to improve yourself and improve the lives of others.
If you work, try doing a little something extra to be helpful every day. If you go to school, put extra time aside to do an extra good job on your assignments. Think of a charity and get involved. If you want to feed the hungry, find out where there is a local church or food pantry and take food once a week consistently. What you do is what will make you feel good about yourself. You don't have to be a victim! You can make your own happiness. I promise!!!

Darling hey I think there are people out there that feel just like you, like me. Its just got better with age. First of all there is no one in the world thats ugly. Ugly would probably be someone who smells bad, doesnt brush their teeth. Like all the commercials say health is beauty.
Stop looking at magazine, or what the tv tells us whats pretty, because you might be spending the rest of your life beating yourself up for it...so forget about that now.
Someone sees beauty in you, like you look at a friend and think she is pretty, people will find something about you they think is pretty. Everyone has something special about them. Good Luck and remember there are good people in the world.

Do you really want an easy life? Perhaps you don't really want one and that's why you are not getting one. Or perhaps you do - but you want it too badly. Maybe you try so hard to keep stress at bay that you end up getting tense! Many say that the key to success involves knowing what you want. But often it is more important just to know what you don't want. The quickest way to reach your current goal is to become far less bothered about whether or not you actually get there! Stand back - and you'll move on!
