I waqs wondering if you could help me?!

Question: Being in highschool is fun, but I hate having to get up at like 6:00 am. i know people get up earlier than I do and You probably know what im talking about. Going to bed early is hard since Im not tires, which leads me to be tired and depressed about the day.

Can anyone help me? What can I do to be happy in the morning? What kind of routine do you have. Are there any foods that should make me feel better?

I have a few rituals that I use to get myself going in the morning: I drink coffee (although you probably don't want to do that if you're still in high school), and I read either the news or an exciting book to get my mind whirring.

Since you specifically asked about foods, I can tell you that apples are said to have a sort of natural caffeine in them to get you going (although I can't give you a source on that). Something I definitely neglected when I was in high school was eating breakfast. I eat breakfast every morning before work now, and I feel so much better because of it.

Other things you can try:
--I know people that make sure they get up and shower or splash water on their face right away when they wake up and that gets them going in the morning.
--You could also try some physical activity in the morning (when I can get myself into the routine of doing yoga in the morning, it just feels awesome..and it's not a strain like it would be if you were doing aerobics or something like that).
--A lot of the stuff I've read about sleep has said (and my experience has led me to agree) that you should keep a consistent sleep schedule, so try to go to sleep and get up at the same time every day (I don't blame you if you don't do it on the weekends). That will make it easier to go to sleep as well.

The last thing I will say is to make sure you aren't actually depressed. I know sleep can be a big factor (I'm the same way). But, you should definitely double-check to make sure there might not be something else going on that is making it hard for you to sleep and making you tired.

The last thing you probably want to do is get up any earlier, but you should. When you rush you get aggrevated and stressed out. Give yourself a little more time in the morning and maybe go for a little walk and eat a solid breakfast!
