My friends have made me fall into depression?!

Question: my friends are always comparing me to my perfect best friend. she's beautiful, has a perfect body any guy would dream of and any girl would envy and her personality is phenomenal. Ever since we both got to this school in august she's been asked out by dozens of guys and as for me, guys see me more of a friend. my friends are always telling me "oh you should me more like michel" or "too bad you're not even half as hot as michel is". and i can't help but cry every night whenever i think back to everything everyone says DAILY. I've told them how crappy they make me feel when they say these things and all they say is "but it's true, it's too bad you can't be like her, that's all. i mean you really need some work done".

wtf am i supposed to do??? i have to put on an act that i'm fine and happy in front of my family and "friends" and i can't let anyone know how depressed i actually feel, i mean i cry my eyes out any chance i get... please help me

note: all my friends are guys, i'm 14.

Find something you can excel at that Michel doesn't do and go for it. Be your own person, don't let people tell you to be like someone else. These people are typical high schoolers very rude and don't care if their hurt people -- don't listen to them, find new friends and drift away from this group. At 14 you are too young to let people run your life and hurt this way. Get a grip on your life girl and go out there a kick some A**.

I say, all you can do, is ditch the friends. They don't seem too great to me.

honestly, why do you put up with it? you should have friends so they can make you feel good about yourself and lift you up higher. i seee no good for you now, so its time for a change! don't feel sorry for yourself, you need to get out and meet new people. have confidence and love yourself for who you are, i konw its so cliche but seriously its true. surround yourself with people who love you for who you are! good luckkk

Honey, no one can make you depressed but you.

You would do well to accept this while you are young: YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN HAPPINESS.

Did you hear me?

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN HAPPINESS.

There will always be someone who is smarter, prettier, more talented, and wealthier than you. Think about how you're feeling right this moment. Now picture yourself at ages of 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, etc. Do you still want to be feeling this way because someone else's kids are cuter than yours, if someone else has a bigger house than yours, if someone's husband is more sucessful than yours?

Or, do you want to accept the fact at 14 years of age that you will never be perfect and neither will anyone else, regardless of how they appear to you? That you are responsible for your own happiness? That if you accept this at 14, you will be saving yourself years of grief?

There are things about you that are special, some things at at 14, you haven't even discovered yet. Are you willing to let those gifts fester and mold because you are too fixated on what some doofus is saying to you? Is this person so awesome and important in your life that she is worth giving up your self-respect for?

Here's some tough love, honey. Get a grip. Life can be tough, but if you accept that everything isn't fair at 14, your chances of a happy life are much greater.
