Because you then can see how good you reallly have it & when you appreciate the good it makes you happy. You might feel guilty doing it this way. What some people do is they write a graditude journal. They might write as many things as they can think of, that they appreciate, on a notebook page everyday. If you start looking at the good you have you feel better.

your a sicko.

OMG you are NOT a sicko. I do this too and plan to ask my Doc about it. It is weird. I think its all in "misery loves company" sorta thing. Maybe a way of telling ourself that we are not the only failures (that in return makes us feel good?) I dunno, just glad Im not alone.

It makes you happy because it makes you feel better about yourself, putting yourself on a higher platform than the people who are suffering at the moment in question. If it makes you feel this way, you're a ****.

firstly you r not selfish but , most probably, have many problems in your life making you in stable.Every one needs settlement .
secondly, you need to be not alone in your miserable life and you feel so because you find someone to share this hard feelings
the third point is ,it does not mean that it`s Good feeling but try to accommodate with it
