If you're referring to Autism spectrum, the name says how complicated this is. There is a tremendously varied spectrum of abilities, symptoms, and techniques an ASD person will respond to. The best thing you can do is bring in the parents, therapist (or refer them for therapy) and teachers and have a round table discussion on how the child approaches things in general and tailor the aproaches to the behaviors and symptoms most apparent with this person.

A very good resource for this is: http://www.udel.edu/bkirby/asperger/

Some children will be funcitonal within the normal classroom. Others will have to have a 504 plan to accomodate certain issues that will arise like an aspie's strong aversion to do something they absolutely do not see the point in. Or their ability to voice their opinions without any social restraint of appropriateness. This is the ASD not a personal attack in the way we may try to interpret it.

For Autistm with low functioning they may need a self-contained classroom and Special Ed. services to focus on communication skills and self-care and to allow specific funding for the school to address the needs of the special needs child.
