Help! Think my spouse has mental issues concerning pets, does your spouse?!

Question: Our 1st pet cat, they told me "I was gay" because I like watching television holding the cat. {I thought everyone held their pets, or are they really like furniture}

Then the 2nd pet we got, the spouse accused me of "being in love" w/an animal.
I do love animals, however it seems weird to me that the person responds this way. It's bizarre.
Do you think the spouse has jealously issues because I give attention to the pets? Like they are competing?
Man, its a good thing we didn't have kids! Then they'd act even more jealous for attention.
Does your 'other half' get jealous over pets?
Its pretty d*mn stupid if you ask me. I mean really.

I personally think your spouse is a ********. Sorry had to say it. But anyone who gets jealous over pets is an idiot. I'd dump him.
(I love having my dogs on the couch with me and they are two greyhound... huge dogs who take over the couch)

your spouse has issues.... insecurity issues......
it's ridiculouse to be jealous over a helpless, innocent
pet. No, nobody I know ever was jealous over an animal.
I'd say if someone is, they need help.
(before they get really stupid and hurt the animal)

Yep. Sounds like jealousy to me. The guy must be really insecure. Next time tell him that his jealousy is insulting because it gives the impression that you don't care for him. I doubt saying that will make any difference though. His issues could run deep. Perhaps he felt abandoned or rejected as a child. Still, that is no excuse and he is being very childish. Have it out with him and let him know that you won't tolerate it.
