I have bouts of anxiety several times per month - suggestion for meds?!


Question: I don't want anti-depressants. Tried 'em before...they were OVERKILL for what I need.

I'd like to ask for something to take 2-4 days per month or when the anxiety strikes. It's so bad I feel I've nowhere left to turn. I can't concentrate, I worry way to much about EVERYTHING and I'm completely stressed to tunnel vision/black spots.

Can anyone suggest something that isn't a 'down'? Is it possible to have this kind of medication prescribed, only for sporadic use?

Ask your doctor about lorazapam 1 mg. My ob/gyn prescribes it to be taken just occasionally - for me it is ususally the pms week. (sorry I didn't even notice if you were male or female so don't take offense) regardless, it is very mild but helpful and I don't have any urge to take it more than during the occasional 3-4 times a month like you are describing.

What will work is to go to Walmart and buy some super Be-complex (Vitimans) , then when you start to get anxious just take one they are harmless, non addictive, natural and very inexpensive. And they have always worked for me.

I am on anti-anxiety meds. This really is only a question for an MD. You want to be safe.

Yes, Honestly i do not think meds are the answer, I was on them and lost track of life. I got off and was damn determined i was not going to live like this for ever. There are a lot of things you can do to help. Write. Write Write. First you need to think about what makes you stressed. Write down everything you hate or makes you stressed. My biggest was a b/f. Then think of a solution of how to eliminate those things from your life one by one. No i don't mean kill them. OK for example: You get stressed when you get off of work and have to cook clean take care of the kids you can never find alone time to relax. Your solution is.. Make a schedule and stay on it. have everything done by a certain time to allow you time. Even if something has to be put off or can be eliminated. Do it. There is a solution for what makes you stressed. You just have to find it. I honestly don't think med help its a cover. As soon as they are gone you are back at square one. This is just one thing there are so many other things that you can do...
