Anxiety can lead to depression. Zoloft is meant for anxiety. I have a panic disorder and I am on Zoloft. It has helped me tremendously. The first few weeks were really hard w/ the side effects, but your body adjusts, usually around 6-8 weeks.

anxiety is often the root cause of depression, and zoloft is often prescribed for anxiety disorders because it seems to help. Give it a good six week trial before you rule it out.

The side effects of taking Zoloft are typing in CAPITAL LETTERS WHEN YOU WRITE.

Antidepressants like Zoloft also work really well to treat anxiety. Zoloft is commonly used for people who are anxious but not depressed (it is also used for people who are depressed but not anxious, or both anxious and depressed).

You don't sound like you are depressed--that requires sad mood or irritability more days than not for at least 2 weeks...

Side effects happen for some people but not everyone, and when they do happen they often decrease relatively quickly. The most common side effects are dry mouth, insomnia, sexual side effects, diarrhea, nausea and sleepiness.

Zoloft has its own website for more info (zoloft.com)
The Anxiety Disorders Association of America is a good website for learning more about anxiety and its treatment (www.adaa.org)

they should have provided you with a pamphlet explaining all of the side effects. I used to take it...one of the side effects you should really be aware of... suicidal tendencies especially in the first 30 days. People who otherwise would not have those thoughts are even prone to this...especially teens so be careful...

Give it at least a month. Symptons are tiredness and not wanting to have sex.

i was given that stuff! the side effects for me were not worth it! made me worss than b4 i took it! you know kind a like a zomby - couldn't even cry!!!!! in my opinoin JUST SAY NO and either tell your current doc it's not working for you and ask for an alternative or get another doc - like i did - got another doc and i am doing a whole lot better - no meds for depression - if you feel uncomfortable while on the zoloft do not take it!!!! good luck :)

Ive been taking 150mg of zoloft for about 5 months now. It really helps for my depression AND anxiety. It isnt just used for depression. Some fot he side effects are nausea, dry mouth, night sweating, trouble sleeping. None of these are very serious to worry about. But if you start to have tremors, a loss of your appetite, weight loss, black stool, easy bruising/bleeding, any sexual problems, unusal rapid weight gain, seizures, rashes, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing....More than 70% of these side effects are very rare. Just try the Zoloft. It really does work. If it doesnt work just play with the doses. I finally got mine to the right amountn and I feel so much better. Good luck!!!

Zoloft assists in the balance of functioning.
Its' benefits touch broad categories of parts of you that have diminished function. When you're chemical imbalance persists there are a number of categories within your functioning and behavior and emotions that get out of balance - and out of control. Anxiety can be one of those out-of-control areas. When each area is pulled back into function and balance, then some of the peripheral symptoms tend to disappear.

I would encourage you to ask your Dr to further explain why THIS medication and how it would work to address YOUR SYMPTOMS. Explain your hesitations and questions and see that you receive answers that make sense.
