I'm having a terrible time trying to sleep!?!

Question: I'm waking 6 or 7 times a night! I've just gone back to study, but I'm too drained to concentrate. I've been like this for a month now. Any suggestions? I can't take pills as I not long finished rehab.

I have learned about the importance of getting quality sleep. I have developed some good habits to help me get the quality sleep I need. Everyone requires quality sleep. Sleep rests your body and regenerates your spirits and energy levels. Helps repair damage to the body and helps improves your immune system. Aim for a regular amount of sleep with a regular time for retiring and rising. Avoid caffeine, heavy meals and physical exercise before bedtime. An increase in physical exercise during the day can help promote a deeper sleep. If your thoughts race and you do most of your worrying as you lie down to sleep, try to eliminate this by doing your worrying earlier. By keeping a journal you can write down all your worries and get them out of your mind before bedtime. If you have trouble falling asleep, you could try unwinding with a relaxing warm bath first with some aromatherapy oil and then add a drop of lavender oil on your pillow. Or have a warm drink of milk and honey, or try some light reading. Deep breathing and relaxation can be very beneficial, try listening to a relaxation CD or try listening to some soothing soft music. Listening to recordings of the peaceful and harmonious sounds of nature, such as gentle raindrops, ocean waves, waterfalls or sounds from a rainforest, can be very soothing and relaxing. There are also natural herbal remedies that can promote relaxation and sleep, try to avoid sleeping pills which disturb the natural sleep process and can become habit forming, but there may be medical reasons why you are not sleeping, get advice from your doctor if you develop sleeping problems which are interfering with your quality of life. Hope this helps, this is a small extract from a book I'm writing called, 'Simple things I learned the hard way', after recovering from 24 years of drug addiction.
DON'T TAKE AMBIEN!! I took this once, under the brand name Stilnox, it has the same active ingrediant Zolpidem tartrate. I just recently appeared on a national Current Affair program on TV in Australia with my story warning people not to take it, there are many activists all over the world trying to get this drug taken off the market. I took just 1 tablet at 6pm with the anticipation of going to bed early by 7pm. I didn't remember anything until I woke up at 7am. To my horror I had a black eye, bump on my forehead, a bruise on my hip the size of a dinner plate, then I found hospital heart monitor equipment stuck all over my chest. I COULDN'T REMEMBER ANYTHING! I had no idea what happened to me. I rang the hospital who confirmed I'd been there, I was told I was brought in by ambulance after collapsing at late night shopping, why I went shopping when I planned on going to bed, I'll never know! After being at the emergency ward for 2 hours I apparently then got up, left, & walked back to the shopping centre where I'd left my car, then I drove home. I then put a pot of oil on the stove to cook chips & forgot about it, the house filled with smoke & the smoke detector went off waking my partner who didn't know where I'd been, he was at work & when I woke up at 7am he had left for work again & I had no memory of anything that happened-only what people told me I did. I was driving my car! I could have killed myself or some innocent person. I couldn't believe it. I reported it to the Adverse Drugs Events Unit & then contacted the TV show to warn other people. When my story went to air there was also an Aussie actor on there who was photographed walking around in nothing but his underwear & carrying a book in the middle of the night in the snow in London! He went on the show too saying he had no memory of doing that. Like all drugs they don't effect everyone the same but who wants to take the risk. People have had car accidents & some have started kitchen fires cooking, a plumber exploded a gas main & one lady woke up to discover she'd painted her front door red! Many strange & dangerous stories! This was the same medication found by Heath Ledger
