The very next time he gets violent, call 911. Do it, no exceptions
You will find that having a record of his domestic violence with the police, it will be helpful to you when you need to leave.

-Police, neighbors, relatives the judge, and even you will have "proof" this man has a problem with dangerous rage
-For getting yourself to accept a separation / divorce you will benefit from the reassurance of others, including the police that this man is too dangerous to live with.
-For him, he needs to have his face rubbed in his deeds to be able to know this is unacceptable behavior, and that he is out of control, unreasonable, and acting like a baby.

To answer your question, yes his rage is reason for divorce.
"Till death do you part" does not mean by his hand you will die.

He needs therapy....

If he ever harms you physically then that is grounds for divorce.

Of course, you said you were single only 3 months ago. So...

Women often are the victims of domestic violence and other forms of abuse. But, they're not the only ones at risk. Every year in the United States, more than 800,000 men are physically or sexually assaulted by a male or female intimate partner. And, when it happens, men can feel guilt, shame or anger, just as women do.

Beyond arguing
Most relationships go through tough times occasionally, resulting in arguments and tension. But, abuse is different. It's a pattern of one person using fear and intimidation to gain power and control over another. Abuse isn't always physical
