I think I have a sleeping/getting to bed at the right time PROBLEM!! Help?!?!?!


Question: WELL I STAY UP WAY TOO LATE.. SOMETIMES I THINK I'M GONNA MISS OUT ON SOMETHING. I'M NOT WORKING RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I HAVE A 3MONTH OLD SON. EVEN WHEN HE SLEEPS I STAY AWAKE! WHAT SHOULD I DO? I MEAN I SLEEP SOMETIMES, BUT NOT AS EARLY AS I SHOULD BE!!!

WHAT IS A GOOD SCHEDULE TO GO BY?? HOW DO I GET ON A GOOD SLEEPING SCHEDULE?? WHATS THE BEST TIME TO GO TO BED? SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE ME ON GETTING TO BED EARLIER AND SO ON...... THANK YOU!!

That's a loaded question! I can relate to feeling like you are going to miss out on something.
You just have to have a little talk with yourself as a parent would with a child. What I mean is reminding yourself (even writing a list) of how you will feel and what you will regret by not going to sleep early.On the other side of the paper, make a list of ways you and your family will benefit from a more healthy sleep schedule.
Hormonal changes may not be helping at all.
Make sure you are able to exercise to release stress and regulate hormones-40 minutes every other day.
Some need aerobic exercise (bike, treadmill, etc.), others do better with yoga, Pilate's.
Try to work with your son's schedule in a way that is to your benefit. Getting the most sleep before you are wakened for the first feeding is good.
Our natural Melatonin (sleep hormone) levels are normally at their highest at 11 p.m. You may want to try to be in bed and ready to fall asleep by then.
If you are like me, it is super critical to put yourself to bed before that second-wind thing happens & makes it 3 times as hard to fall asleep !

take a benedryl to help you sleep.

I do the same thing, worry that I'm going to miss something. I get so bad sometimes I don't get to bed until 5 am. I tried trazodone which worked well for me. Maybe give that a try if you have already tried sleeping pills.

i have the same problem. just set a bed time goal and stick to it. figure out how many hours you need to be fully awake and not be tired.
