Why is it that I always feel depressed around February?!

Question: Last year, I became depressed around Valentines Day, and wasn't really able to come out of it until maybe May, and finally depresssion-free until like, September or October. And now, I have that feeling again of rejection and hopelessness. Why do I always feel like this in February? What can I do to get over this depression-thing forever?

At times like this, it is good to have friends or family. Be careful not to drive them away by obsessing about your own problems. Listening to the problems of others and trying to help can be very therapeutic. Thats one of the reasons I like Yahoo! Answers.

Are you looking for a partner, or even just a date? Don't bother with dating services, it is best to get out and meet people. By all means, be careful, but don't be afraid to leave the house. Daytime is best, the sun and/or fresh air will put you into a positive frame of mind.

What are you interested in? Go out of your way to meet people with similar interests.

Depending on your location, it could be due to the Fall and Winter weather. many are impacted by the lack of regular sunshine ( i think its call SDS). Though overexposure can be damaging, the sun is benefical to the human body in many ways.

some people have seasonal depression...the crappy weather, not enough sunshine...as soon as its nice out go for a hike, enjoy nature as often as possible...get some sun (but not too much)
good luck

u should get out more thats what im starting to do.....just found out my boyfriend was cheating and i just miscarried his baby....i had 2 learn how to let go and move on ;)....just pray, keep faith and remember that w/o your faith you don't have much....hope all goes well

Seasnal depression is not uncommon. you have to see a psychiarist to have suitable medicine for this time as well as he will try to stop relapses by medicines and psychotherapy.

Allot of people feels depressed around February, cause of past experiences. It may be that this is your first year that you have lost a love one due to death or other problems. Many people are in love around this time, as it is the month of love. But you need to remember that there are other people who have been rejected, or abused by a certain someone. Whether it be Friends, Family or even a recent Partner that broke off or "Dumped You". Whatever it is things will probably be a little hard for you, but you need to continue on with your life, with the GOOD memories that are with you.

Probubly seasonal depression. I have that. Winter blues, tired of cold. I love the out doors so it gets to me when its all gray and gloomy and cold.

It could be missing sun light if you are in a cold place like I am.

I sit under a White light by my computer for this reason....full spectrum light that is.

The link below should help explain it better.

Its probably because of Valentines Day again, more often or not; when your single on Valentines Day you have a feeling of loneliness, depression and rejection. But you will get out of this slump soon.

It is seasonal depression. If you know that you will be depressed around February because of seasonal depression, it is possible to take medication for temporary relief...

Or be like me and completely change your routine in order to combat that seasonal change.

its valentines, dsome ppl r just unlucky
