If I go to my doctors with worry of a mental problem?!

Question: Does she automatically put everything I say into my medical history, or does that only get done if I require any form of treatment?

Your doctor will note all visits, and the reason for the visit.

Even should you ask them not to, they are not under any obligation to keep things off the record. Legally, your doctor doesn't work for you, he/she works for the NHS, and has obligations such as to the general population etc.

They will often note such things in order to cover themselves in the event of future 'issues'.

HOWEVER. There are ways to get advice without going to your GP. Look into those if you're not comfortable going to your doctor.

What are you going to tell her?

My doctor wasn't helpful at all. To be frank, I don;t think she gave a shiit

If it's causing you concern, then a chat with your doctor would probably be a good idea anyway. There are plenty of 'mild' anti-depressants that can get you through most things. All the best.

Hi there.
The doctors will note everything down that you tell them. That way they can look back at it later and re-call the last conversation they had with you as you are aware im sure they have so many patients and can't remember everyone's history so this is why they have to do this.
This information is strictly confidential and doesn't get passed around unless you have allowed it to be used for other medical purposes.
In saying that though, if you are a minor and the doctor is worried about something that you have told him or her (regarding you're safety) then he or she may have permission to alert your parents or your next of kin. Depends where you live for that to happen.

They always make notes in your file - in the consultation report. If it's confidentiality you are worried about - then you shouldn't; as you probably know they have taken an oath - and they don't have a wish to compromise that. It's just a little note (probably illegible anyway - ha ha), that stays in your chart - unless your doctor refers you to someone else.

if the doctor feels he/she needs to refer you or feels you have an illness he/she may diagnose you- or refer you for diagnosis, its unlikey he/she will diagnose you for a mental health issue, he/she will refer you and a consultant psychologist will diagnose you. Insted he/she may write that you are complaining or low mood or anxiety or whatever it is.

But you gotta ask, if your going to the doctor its obviously cos you feel you need help so there must be a problem, whats wrong with him/her writing up about it? if they dont do it and something goes wrong they are liable, so its something they will do, even if they dont diagnose you.

If your worried about it being written down aske the doctor about it and maybe you can come to a clearer picture or even an agreement of what to write.

Yes they do. Not to worry as they only put things down on computer as a quick reference should you go back to them with the same problem. Should you wish them not to write anything then say so.

the dr can put it in your file but cant share it with anyone without your permission

what kind of doctor... if you mention you want to kill yourself and mention your plan, then they will send you butt to the hospital right away. i know this because this just happened to me last week with my therapist. i honestly dont give a sh!t if anybody knows that i have mental issues..i want to be completely real with the world! if they see you like this on a regular basis then they would consider giving u medication.

everything is noted down mate, it,s the same as a criminal record, there for life. i went to the doc for, help with slight deppression, now i have mental health problem,s apparently ! and it,s cost me two job,s because you fail medical.s so be sure friend!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess you could think of it in percentage terms. A significant proportion of the population go to their gps with mental health worries, which don't lead to a diagnosis or treatment. Therefore it should be no issue when it comes to jobs or anything of that nature. Millions of people are in the same boat, and if I were an employer I wouldn't bat an eye. So i would go to your doctor.
