Help? side effects!?!
Question: i have been on prozac for about 1 month now and i have been having some side effects such as thoughts of suicide and severe depression but it seems to be somewhat helping my anxiety. what will they do if i tell the doctor? put me on suicide watch?

Depression can be tricky and it may take several medicines to balance it out. If you have thoughts of suicide then you def. need to tell your doctor. Many people have had thoughts of suicide at one time or another, however the difference between thinking about it, and actually trying doing it are two different things. Prozac may not be the med for you. If you don't already have a mental health doctor who specializes in depression and anxiety, then I would get one. You need a person that really knows what to do, and what meds to prescribe. Busbar is a med prescribed spec. for anxiety. However you may need something along with Busbar for your depression. Again if you don't have a specialist trained in this kind of thing, then get one. Also therapy can help with anxiety issues. If you ever feel compelled to act on those feelings of suicide call someone immed. .......family member, friend, pastor, 911...you are here on this earth, you are loved by many, and you are important. You have a life that is valuable and has meaning. No matter how bad or depressed you may become, don't end your life. You can get help with these feelings, you are not alone. Many Many people deal with depression and learn to cope with it via therapy and medications. Talking about it really helps, closing yourself off is not the way to go. Don't be ashamed of yourself for feeling this way, you can't help many things. You just need the right tools to help you come through this. When I feel really down I just remember a simple, yet powerful statement. I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. You are never alone. People here on this board are here for you.
It takes a little while to get some to work so the problem isn't fixed yet. Tell the doctor , and don't worry! You may need to see a counselor, but that can be interesting.
They'll probably want to switch you to a different med... I understand that it helps your anxiety, but if it makes you suicidal, you really should switch. Prozac is known for very severe side effects. As for me, it gave me rage.
Trust me, there are plenty of other medicines that can help with your anxiety and that WON'T make you feel suicidal. Ask your doctor about other medications.

Please call your doctor as soon as possible. They will NOT put you on a suicide watch...they will either adjust or take you off of that medication. Those are severe side effects and can really harm you or others. Please go pick up the phone and call. Take care and good luck to you!
don't worry, i'm having this too. it's just the meds. i just hope it goes away cuz i can't stand this depressive funk i'm going through. stay strong, i got your back!
they wont put you on suicide watch... because thoughts of suicide is a side effect in younger people... so just tell your doctor and you might have to go through counseling... now the only way they would put you on suicide watch is if you tried to commit... and then you would be in a mental hospital for a little bit... (trust me dont go there ive been there not fun at all)
Tell your doctor right away!
Maybe she/he just needs to switch your medication to something else.
They can find a medical strategy that works on both depression and anxiety.
