Can somone be manically depressed AND bi polar or is depression a symptom of bi !

Question: well?

Answers: well?

You can NOT be 'manically depressed' ... depression is a deep sadness, frequently with suicidal ideation and the inability to 'cheer up' ... mania is feeling 'high' and it can be either feeling really good and 'unbeatable' or it can be being extremely angry at everyone and everything. Bipolar disorder is when the patient has BOTH ... never at the same time, but is either 'manic' or 'depressed' with no 'normal middle ground' ...

manic depression is the old name for bipolar, they are in other words, the same thing.

Bipolar disorder consists of manic states and depressed states.

you can be both although they ae just terms they use when they dont know whats wrong with you

Yes, depression is part of bi-polar, which used to be called manic-depressive.

Manic depression and bipolar are the same thing. Manic depression is just the older name for it. Bipolar consists of both depression and periods of mania.

Depression is the opposite of Mania. So you already answered you're question.
