Responding to someone who's shy?!

Question: I'm pretty shy and soft-spoken but I'm trying to open up to others. It seems as if people respond more to me when I'm in my shy state. In other words, they are more apt to talk to me or reach out when I'm feeling shy. If I try to ask them questions and open up a conversation, it feels as if they don't really want to talk to me.

Why is it that people respond more when I'm shy rather than when I'm trying to open up?

they might be trying to draw you out of your box. They will probably talk to you just the same when you are more friendly, but it may take a little while longer.

Cuz maybe you go overboard with questions. It gets annoying
