So Confused...?!

Question: I'm really confused...I kind of like reading about like really sad things like cancer patiants and peoples stories of there lifes and struggles and pain and misery and i dont no why....
I'm definetly not an evil person who gets happyness out of it or anything...it's just somthing i find my self doing...
For ex: last night i spent like 2 hours reading like 20 pages of the cancer section of Y!answers
Is that some kind of like...mental disorder ?

thanks

No i do it too i right poems about people dieing what is the important thing is that you dont get happieness out of it but sense you dont you're fine!
exepting death is a good thing its not bad its naturaly we're all going to die and its best we exept it now rather then fvck ourselves up now and get scared when the time comes

I do that too. I like reading about suicide, maybe it's because I'm suicidal but who really knows? I'm not really sure why either, I just find it interesting I guess...

No, of course not. You just like informing yourself about peoples pain and suffering. Sometimes i enjoy reading tragic stories also. Especially about the holocaust. Sont worry theres nothing wrong with you.

Probably just curiosity or maybe an underlying fear?! The more you read or hear about the more comfort you get. Just an opinion.

it could mean your just a sympathetic person

No of course you don't have a mental problem. You are obviously just interested in the subject. If you weren't then you wouldn't read it.

I read anything I can get my hands on regarding Serial Killers!! I am the most placid, peace loving person you could meet. I like to read about this because I am fascinated in the workings of the mind, not the crime in itself.

Your worrying for nothing.

Maybe it's like staring at a 10 car pileup on the highway, looking to see if anyone's hanging out of one of them. It could be simple curiosity, it might be making you appreciate life more, or both/neither. I wouldn't think it's a mental disorder, unless you get some sort of immense pleasure from other people's serious pain. If you're just drawn in by the mystery and sadness, I'd say that's human.

i actually enjoy that too, and i've always wondered why people enjoy reading it, i used to read the "tough stuff" section of those chicken soup for the teenage soul books! you're not alone

Try anything written by Emile Zola. You will get more darkness in his books then you could ever want and more. You will have your fill of ugliness to the point of nausea. You will get it out of your system.

i tend to read some depressing books too.... like ellen hopkins books, "deadline" (chris crutcher), and the book im going to read next is "give a boy a gun" (todd strasser) which is about 2 kids who plan a school shooting at their high school and actually do it.....

No mental disorder, probably just a natural inclination to want to learn more. I have an author to suggest to you, he's quite graphic in his first book about viruses... what they are and how they work and how they ravage the human body. Very interesting reading if you are up to it.

Richard Preston

The Hot Zone ~ A True story, part of which happened in Virginia. Deals with Ebola, Marburg, & how HIV spread from Africa to all over the world.

The Cobra Event ~ Fiction, scary if it were true and an absolutely great read!

The Demon in the Freezer ~ Another True Story, about the small pox virus, how it was eradicated in the human population.... and who is currently stockpiling it in the world.
