12 year old wetting the bed normal? (REDO)?!

Question: Ok i will try this one again. I had the last one all messed up. Sorry.

I have a 12 yr old Girl she started wetting the bed out of the blue. the first time i chalked it up to a hard day and sleeping hard. but now it is 3 times in a week. It dont sound like an infection thing going on to me. already asked her all them questions. its not anything to do with daibetes she gets tested for that every other month because she is on depakote She however, is Adhd, bipolar, Odd, she is acted like it is no big deal.

then someone Asked me If it could be WET DREAMS ?
leads me in to asking do girls get wet dreams like a boy might have at her age?.. In no way am i saying she is having wet dream.

I'm wondering if any meds she may be on for her ADHD or bipolar conditions could be contributing? Is there a correlation between the bedwetting and meds? Is she having a particularly stressful time right now? Don't rule out an infection so quickly. A quick test at the doctor's office can make sure about this. I don't believe that this is a sexual response. Check out the more obvious things first and limit liquids before bed.

This may be a week bladder

ask her if she likes anyone and if she does then it could be wet dreams

Im so sorry no one helped you out before!
But well she does have mental disorders so I would have to say that this does happen to children that have these disorders.
The reason I know is that I have 2 children 9 years and 7 years old that have mental disorders are still wetting the bed. so I understand. Its hard because I am constantly washing all of the time. and asking them why???? when they dont understand whats going on them selfs.
best of luck

she probably has a small bladder which is normal for most people i know a few 12 year olds and they have the same problem it is very normal.

my mom was the same way just wake up around 11-12 and wake her to go to the restrrom

well no its not normal maby she has night mares and she might have bladder problems. u should take her to the docteors i know someone who was 9 and did it and someone who was 12 so go to the doctor just in case

When you said Shes acting like it's no big deal. It aint
Children can wet the Bed at anyage what so ever.
There is known to have adults to wet the bed.
It's a sort of Night terror just like snoring or Sleep walking.
If she does not grow out of it (usually by the age of 13)
Then Consult your Local GP And if you already have
Go to the hospital and explain.

A very close friend of mine is also bipolar and was on Depakote. One of the unpleasant side effects of Depakote is wetting the bed. Perhaps her psychiatrist can lower the Depakote dosage to try to minimize the side effects (namely the bed wetting) or change to a different drug all together such as Welbutrin (if appropriate), and maybe she will have better luck with that one.

If changing to a different med is not an option, a good start would be to limit liquids (or at least in very small quanitities) at least an hour before bed so she has time to digest and be sure to have her go pee right before she hops into bed, minimizing the chance of having too full a bladder and being unable to wake up from a deep sleep on that particular medication. My good friend never had bed wetting problems til he started the Depakote, and this is what we did with him and it worked extremely well. The other side effects in combination with the bed wetting is what prompted the switch to a different medication. For a girl at that age, I would suggest looking into a different medication as it is a sensitive time for a young girl... puberty coming up, maybe sleep overs, and it would be terribly embarrassing to wet the bed with friends over or at another friends house all because of medication. Try not to let the medication rule her life, instead, take control of the medication to work WITH her in her life.

Good luck.

Yes I agree. She may have a week bladder and might have a prroblem with her urination.

as far as i know girls don't get wet dreams. it may be a weak bladder of something could be really stressing her in her waking moments. has there been a major change in her life recently? new school, a move, friend problems, and heaven forbid, being abused by some one would trigger wetting too.

brother had this, poor thing.....it's a nerve in the neck, dont remember exactly but it's nerve thing.

To me it might be normal because my brother was like 18 or 16 i think and wet his bed like every night .

I AM SO EMBARRASSED THAT I HAVE A BROTHER THAT WETS HIS BED...OH MY!!!!!!!!!!11111111

I have just become a Bowen therapy practitioner and there is a very gentle treatment that has a 90% success rate for children that wet the bed and adults with over active bladders. To find a practioner go to www.bowtech.com. It is definitely worth a try. Bowen is called the holistic bodywork treatment. It is amazing.

My step daughter did that for a brief spell of about 6 months. When I told my girlfriend, she freaked out on me! She started telling me that that is a sign of being raped. She said it happened to her when she was young. Her mother had been leaving her with men so she could go off and do whatever. I was told that the odds of a healthy girl just starting to do that for no reason were probably slim. I certainly hope that is not even a possibility, but I did not know that and upon asking around found that a lot of people knew that. Just a bit of information that I found valuable and thought I should pass it on.

Next, I did that when I was young because I was such a deep sleeper. My mother went to the health food store and bought a raw chunk of ginseng, she gave me a chunk to chew on and get juices from to swallow. I sucked on that for about 30 minutes. I never wet the bed again.

whatch what she drinks before bed. as in does she drink a certain liquid or does she down a glass of water before she goes to bed. it maybe just a phase for a couple of weeks or a couple of months. my niece had that same problem and it only lasted a couple of months. till this day my sister has no idea why, it just happend and then went away after awhile.

Take her to a GP. It is probably a weak bladder or bladder infection. Even though it might seem like it's not an infection it could be and it should be checked before it gets out of control. At 12 years old, operations require less recovery time. I went through this with my sibling and she had a simple operation (Day op) and now she is fine

I'm a man who wet the bed for 30 years,my mind wouldn't interrupt my sleep when I had to go.I didn't realize that I had to go,I had to make myself uncomfortable, like sleeping with no blankets or sleeping on a hard surface, so I wouldn't sleep so sound.II had to train my mind to wake me when I had to go.It took a long time.I slept on the floor, sideways on the bed, anything to keep from sleeping sound.I think now that a psychiatrist may be able to put this in her subconscious mind to wake her up .She's not doing it on purpose,it's embarrassing, you can't have sleep overs or anything. Get her help quick.
