How bad is St. John's Wort for you?!

Question: I thought it probably doesnt do anything, but I did take one and now I'm happier. Or do I just think i'm happier.
And what could the worst side effects of this be if I took too many

thanks!

One won't have made you 'happier'.

A consistent recommended dosage, after being taken for at least several weeks can alleviate anxiety and depression. It can be quite effective.

The side effects of St John's Wort include a faster metabolism and a sensitivity to sunlight. A fast metabolism may result in weight loss or may cause medications to pass through your system to quickly, rendering them ineffective. The sensitivity to sunlight can be managed through use of protective clothing, hats, sunglasses and sunscreen etc.

Over dosing on any medication can make you ill, or seeing as you asked for the worst possible scenario - kill you.

St. John's Wort worked well for me during a two year spell of mild depression. Eventually it got worse and I had to move to prescription medications, but I didn't experience anything "bad."

Just be careful if you're on birth control. I know St. John's Wort can make some birth control pills ineffective. It should say on the package or the information sheet that comes with it if you are. I see you're a guy but I just wanted it out there for general information. As far as I have heard there are no negative effects for guys.Good luck
