Should I go to a doctor tomorrow morning?

Yes but you need to get to the root cause of your depression. Drugs like Prozac can help but I didn't like the way they made me feel & am not sure that they really did much. I think I got better through simply trying to do something to help myself. Good Luck, it's incredibly common - 1 in 4 I believe.

It would be good to see your doctor as depression can sometimes be a sign of something else being wrong with your health. There is also medication or councilling they can prescribe. I would try to stay away from taking medication as much as you can, although if your depression is very severe then I would recommend taking what they prescribe and see how it goes.

yes you should go as soon as possible to a doctor. tell them excatly what your are feeling and how long this is going on, hopefully they will write you a prescription for an anti-depressant. remember that it sometimes takes as long as three weeks for them to kick in so you have to keep taking them. best of luck

My friend once had depression and the way she got rid of it was on herself, not because of what chemicals the doctor prescribed her or any other psychological counseling she went to. She was even downgraded by the psychologist she went to, which doesn't make anything better but worse for no other reason but that the husband is right to lie and do other things behind her back.

First she had to figure out what was wrong with her, what she needed in life that she currently did not have. Was she in a happy relationship, etc.??

People ususally need a change in their life when they suffer under depression. I am not saying that a doctor cannot help, but in her case, it didn't because the psychologist she went to told her to change herself, but that didn't change on the whole sitation that she was living with a husband that was constantly lying to her and doing things behind her back.

Anyways, maybe you should do sports and get your thoughts on something else, get out of the house, with friends and see what happens. It helped her a lot.

I suffered from depression for about 2 months but I didn't go to the doctors, I just left it. In the end I was ok again. I would advise the doctors, though that wouldn't have helped me...

It never hurts to go to a doctor. He/she may prescribe antidepressants or suggest that you talk to a counselor. Both have helped my life tremendously. For me, the depression just kept getting worse and medications and counseling have kept me from hitting rock bottom. You might feel funny after you start taking the antidepressants, some people don't feel like themselves. But this goes away, and no matter what it's still better than feeling depressed.
No matter what, a doctor will help you figure out what's best for you. If you're afraid of taking the antidepressant route, he/she might refer you to a counselor. You might also try exercising more and eating differently.
Good luck!!!

Emotional Thought Stopping, when performed regularly, will help us to stop reinforcing those automatic unconscious thoughts which are contributing to our depression. When we stop reinforcing our negative and self destructive thoughts, we MUST offer the unconscious mind alternative methods to combat stress. There are differing forms of exercise and relaxation which when performed regularly, will help us to maintain control. In addition it is essential that we improve our overall physical health, which aids the unconscious mind in its efforts to combat stress.

THIS IS IMPORTANT, and true even if one takes medication to combat their depression. When we are physically fit the side effects of drugs will be less pervasive and it may be that the dosage could be reduced, as our body will assimilate the drugs with less effort.

The benefits of exercise, dietary supplements, proper nutrition, meditation and relaxation, an occasional cleansing, and knowing what not to consume, are all a very important part of helping us combat depression. Some of the measurable benefits are:

-We look and feel better.
-Our energy level is increased.
-Our general mood will improve.
-Our self-esteem and confidence are enhanced.
-We think more clearly and are better able to combat the stress in our lives.
-We are less likely to project the traditional body language of the depressed, i.e. inability to maintain eye contact, slouched posture, worried or blank look, etc.
-We are more likely to pay attention to our dress, personal hygiene and personal surroundings.

yes you should

thats the best place to start...if you are honest and want help they will help you...life will be alot brighter

go and see your doctor. the chances are he will prescribe anti depressants, but the good thing is that the majority of people who take them dont have to take them long term
