Marijuanna for insomnia treatment?!

Question: I have dealt with dehabilitating insomnia for over 5 years. Since I have been pregnant, it has magically dissapeared (Thank God!!) and I feel pretty great. I'm kind of worried about it returning after the birth of my daughter. I used to be on all kinds of prescribed drugs to help me sleep, but the in turn almost ruined my life. I was a walking zombie, addicted to multiple antidepressents and sleep inducers. After going through a horrible withdrawal period from all these drugs, I told myself I would never do it again. Years ago, for a short time, I made a marijuanna tea at night to help me sleep. It was wonderful! It worked like a charm, and I would wake up feeling great. I stopped because my dr said I should, and that's when I started getting prescribed all the pills. So I'm kind of thinking about revisiting that therapy in case it does come back later in life. I know I can expect a variety of answers here, and I welcome them all! What do you guys think of this idea?

Sounds to me like the pharmaceutical companies have your docter in their pockets. Just prescribing you a whole bunch of pills like that, when he probably knew what they would do to you. To answer your question,I would have to agree with you on using marijuana tea to go to sleep because when I have used it in the past it has made me feel sleepy.

I think HECKKK YAH!!!!!!

medicinal marijuana is legal where I live, in Southern California. I think it's a great cure for insomnia! Try to see if you can get it legally

how about trazodone? (if i spelled that wrong, sorry) i am bipolar and have adhd so those disorders make it so i am a insomniac if my cycles are occuring or if my adhd just wants to kick in at 4 in the morning. weed or weed tea is not the answer. what if your daughter wanted to smoke weed? would you let her? your setting a bad example for your daughter since it is illegal. since your doctor said you needed to stop, obviously it was because he knew there were grave dangers. you can only get addicted to medication if you take too much each day.
just take some tylenol pm. don't stoop that low to use weed as the answer

marijuana is addictive, thats probably a big reason why your doc told you to stop. Maybe you should just try some other kind of hot herbal tea, something legal...

hope this helps

hm marijuana tea? really? because its hard to get the THC out of the pot and make it stay in liquid form unless you have a large quantity of it. did you mix butter or some kind of fat with the pot during making of the tea to make the THC stick in the water? i think this treatment sounds very fishy to me.

as far as the treatment goes involving pot, i say dont do it. i am not against using of marijuana, i do it occasionally myself. but doing marijuana or showing the effects of marijuana infront of your young child is just wrong. nothing good can come out of it. your children will either think your a druggy and a bad influence later in their life or be such a free thinker about drugs that they will eventually fall into harder drugs like coccaine or E.

Tetrahydracanobinol is a CNS depressent, so it would in theory do that.

This is a random question, but have you considered taking birth control pills? If your insomnia magically disappeared during pregnency, it could be a hormonal issue. Birth control pills would make your body believe it's pregnent.

go for it

marijuana is not addictive

Marijuana is much safer than all those prescription drugs you were taking. Keep brewing that tea.

no one here can help you, go see a quilified practicitioner AND DONT EVER TOUCH MARIJUANA.
WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR DAUGHTER IS GOING TO THINK OF YOU IF SHE FINDS OUT HER MUM USES ILLEGAL DRUGS??? THINK ABOUT YOUR DAUGHTER FOR HEVEANS SAKE!!!!

I suffer from terrible insomnia. I take melatonin, and if you've never tried it, you definitely should. It's a healthy alternative to prescription medication. There are some melatonin and valerian root pills that I feel work even better, but I feel a little more tired after taking those than with melatonin alone. Everyone is different as far as dosing as well, but you should definitely try it. Insomnia is a horrible thing to endure. It effects nearly every aspect of your life when you can get a good nights sleep.

honestly, the way i look at it. once you have your daughter, you will be run so ragged that you will fall out once you get the chance. i'm pregnant right now, and that's what all the mothers have been telling me. so i really wouldn't worry about it until it happens. there are also studies to fight the no addiction to pot thing. anything is addicting. even marijuana. so i wouldn't count on that. AND, if by some strange chance you get caught with drugs, they can take your baby from you. so i wouldn't suggest it. there are many teas out there, even bedtime teas, which relax you and help you sleep. go look at those.

I have to agree that you should drink the tea. From an outside person looking in and the fact that almost NO doctor will ever tell you to continue your own marijuana treatment, there is nothing wrong you are doing. I really think all these- *high pitched whinny voice* "Think about your daughter?! What would she think?!" I think they are little kids on the internet. 12, 13 maybe. Im surprised one of them didnt ask if drinking the tea is what got you pregnant...........is it? haha! If they knew half of what their parents did they would probably poop themselves........ then crawl into a corner and cry. Anyways, I think that the b/c pill idea, hormones, is pretty good, maybe you should get that checked out. Also remember, if you decide to self treat yourself this way you should do it as tho it were actuall medicine.... ya know, only take it when you really need it and stuff.

Hope ya get a good nights sleep tonight!

PS- I was prescribed Trazadone and got a painful erection lasting about 30 - 45 min. I was pouring cold water on it and knocking stuff off the bathroom counter, it was terrible. Oh, and when I woke up..... it felt like I was just sleeping standing up ugggggggggggh I hate when people think doctors know you better than you know yourself. The last one (trazadone), only prescribed it because I said I was nervous at bedtime. Not that I couldnt sleep at all, just that I have trouble not thinking about every little thing and just going to sleep. Xanax worked perfect for me and helped me create a routine. Good stuff when used properly.
