I think that we all have worried a few times if we left something on, or forgotten to close a door.

For it to be a psychological disorder, the thoughts 'and' compulsions must interfere with your daily life. One or two days here and there might not be a problem, but if it affects your daily life to the point where you cannot function properly, then it can be diagnosed.

If your problems with this continue and other parts of your daily life begin to suffer, you should talk with your physician. Keeping a daily journal of your thoughts and actions to document the issues will help your physician understand and properly diagnose you.

Everyone has done that a time or two, then they realize it's a good idea never to leave anything on or plugged in and they double check before leaving home, that's a good practice.

Urghh, probably no!

Everyone has their quirks. But OCD is not just quirks, its lots and lots of rituals, and many beliefs that something BAD will happen if they don't do a ritual (turning on/off the lights five times). Obsessive-compulsive disorder is the new "trend" these days, I guess, and people need to learn that not every quirk is OCD.

Coming from someone who's sick of this, and has it. :|

Maybe, well sort of. people worry but it dosn't deserve a label or diagnosis unless it's really interfearing with your life. Otherwise it's in the range of normal.

Check out the book Shadow syndromes: the mild forms of of Major Mental Disorders That Sabotage Us by ratey.

It has a section on OCD. It is very informative.
