Question: just wondering if anyone knew of any effective medication for schizophrenia, my partner has tried many all which work for a while, can anyone recomed anthing that may help.

There are tons of meds out now for Schizophrenia. The older ones, like Thorazine, Haldol, and Prolixin, have the most side effects. The newer ones, like Zyprexa, Risperdal, Seroquel, Geodon, and Invega, work better and have less side effects. They can wear out after a while though, dose needs to adjusted accordingly.
A last try med is Clozaril, which is a last resort because when you start it, you must have weekly blood draws for the first six months, and then it goes down to every other week. The reason is because it can negatively affect your white cell count, which can be deadly. So as with any med, you need to weigh out the pros and the cons.

Rent the movie a Beautiful Mind, there is a certain amount of self help. I had a very good friend in highschool that has schizophrenia, but I dont remember what meds he was on. Even on meds though he still had issues. Try taking to a therapist that deal with schizophrenia.

My uncle is on resperadol But he has to have a change after 15 years of the same medication. He is hearing the voices again loud.
I have seen Zyprexa work wonders in two of my clients at work. If it helps you to know, this same thing happened to me with my migraine medications, they just don't work anymore, so off to a new drug I had to go.
