Are there withdrawals coming off even the lowest dose of lexapro?!

Question: i have been on lexapro 10 mg. for 1 1/2 years. i've been tapering off for the last week. the first day, i felt euphoric/awesome--now after a week of taking them only every other day, i feel tense and tired, with a slight feeling of anxiety. the pharmacist says this is normal. do you agree? please only answer if you have personal knowledge or experience with this drug...i don't want to be tempted to stay on them, but i'm wondering why so many symptoms since i was on such a low dosage...your thoughts? p.s. my doctor and i agreed that it is time to go off them.

I took Lexapro 10 mg. for nearly 2 years, and I had just very mild anxiety when I stopped (gradually, as you did). "Withdrawl" symptoms are par for the course with any drug or substance ... nicotine and alcohol included. The symptoms will be at their worst in the 72 hours (3 days) after you have COMPLETELY stopped taking the medication.

I decided to stop taking it simply because I hated the thought of medicating myself every day, but now I'm rethinking that decision. I'm pretty sure I should've stayed on it.

I had taken Paxil before that, and just didn't like how "flat" I felt on that. Lexapro was a much better choice for me.

Whether to stop or continue is between you and your doctor. You might find that quitting is best, but if it turns out not to be, please don't feel like a failure. It's not your fault ... it's your brain-chemistry. You can't exactly control that with willpower alone!

Give yourself a few weeks to adjust. You may be able to go off it completely, or you may do best with a very low daily dose ... Best of Luck to You!

yes withdrawl is ***** lower dose ashould be less intense but still a *****

I had to take the same thing before and when i quit i had headaches, nausea, and also really bad hallucinations. i ended up getting on zyprexa and that was just as bad as what i had just went through. so i quit taking them all together.
