Yeah, I'm 14, too and last year I had to take psychotherapy (for depression and paranoia).
My doctor kept mostly everything confidential.
The most they'll do is give your parent a run through.
No details though.
Just so in so is having problems dealing with __.
But if you tell them to keep it on the low down, the will.
By law they have to, unless you really need help (killing people, bad drug problem, stuff like that).

Hmmm it is probaly best to let your mum know, therapy is usually quite expensive + i recon alot of it is to do with your hormones

go see doctor they should refer you

If the centre is NHS, your doctor would need to refer you. He can decide whether or not he tells your mum.

If the centre is private, you would have to pay for your treatment, and unless you have a source of cash that your mum doesn't know about, that could be a problem.

Is mum the problem? (They usually are when you're 14)

as far as i know doctor-patient confidentiality only applies when the patient is an adult so i dont think you can do it without her finding out, and besides, who would pay for it? professional help doesnt come cheap unfortunately!

No you don't need therapy. you are a young woman with homones which are probably racing and making you feel like the whole world is against you. If you feel that no one seems to listen to you then the best person to talk to would be a trusted Aunt, or a local priest, or your doctor. It's perfectly OK of you to make an appointment to see your family Doctor on your own. without your mother knowing. BUT I really feel that you? should confide in your mom. Tell her you'd like to have a check up to see that everuthing is normal with you. I'm sure she won't mind... But if she does then make the appointment for your self with the doctor. By best bet is You ARE normal AND healthy too.

my GP referred me to a website called 'living life to the full' which uses cognitive behavioral therapy (same as you would get with counselling) It didn't suit me (severely depressed - told me to go immediately to A&E if I felt suicidal!!!- thanks for all the help there!) But it might do the trick. Fingers crossed that it does. In the meantime, don't isolate yourself... talk to anyone you can trust. The Samaritans are very good and sometimes it just helps to offload to somebody.

I used to think the same way as you- that my mom (and dad) could NEVER find out that I was so crazy or I'd just die! Well, you know where that got me? Hospitalized. What is so awful about your mom knowing that you need help? It really isn't as horrid as you're thinking in your mind. What's bad is not getting the help that you need. Keeping something that big from your mom is going to be a huge burden on you. It's better to just be open and get it over with so that you don't have to keep worrying about it after that. If you are still convinced that she can't know, I encourage you, when you see a professional, to get them to help you explain to her that you're doing what you need to do to be healthy and happy. Nothing wrong with that!

why dont you want your mom to find out? I think u should seek for help and maybe u need medication

Go to see your doctor and ask him
